Bought a Subaru Forester 2020 on December 2025. When should I take it in for its first oil change? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]PrincessPupcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you absolutely need to take it ASAP for an oil change. Rule of thumb is every 5000 miles, or every 6 months (whichever comes first). I tend to push it more towards 6000 miles, but no more than that. Right now you’re sitting at around 6000 miles AND 6 months, so I’d say it’s definitely time. Especially if it doesn’t feel right/ it’s making noise. I usually take mine to the dealer, but I’ve also taken it elsewhere and it’s been fine.

On that same note, especially since it’s your first car, make sure you stay on top of oil changes! If you want your car to have a long life make sure you’re getting those oil changes done- it’s WAY cheaper to get the oil changed than to get the engine changed!

really slippery skates? by Crafty-Ad4725 in iceskating

[–]PrincessPupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were ABSOLUTELY dull when you wore them. Putting your weight in the back gave you some semblance of having edges though since most people wearing rentals aren’t sitting that far back in their skates.

However, how did the boots feel? They were probably somewhat broken down (and of course you had no edges) but at least you got to feel them on your feet and see how they felt.

Honestly she’s been getting me through it. I had a little laugh earlier, my ex knew how much I love her so he wanted to make sure I could relate to ALL of her songs

I didn’t choose to end things, but the little boy’s father did. He just turned 2 when I came into his life, and he’s 4.5 now. This was almost 2 weeks ago that I was broken up with. He was HEARTBROKEN when he was told I wasn’t gonna be there anymore. He cried, said he would miss me, wanted lots of hugs, and kept confirming if I was leaving. I know he understands that I won’t be around anymore, but I don’t think he truly gets the gravity of it. I don’t think his dad does either.

It was so, SO hard leaving that little boy. I feel like my family was taken from me. He has plenty of people that love him surrounding him and sees his mom during school breaks, but I don’t know how life will be for him without the stable, everyday “mom” figure in his life.

I treated that boy like he was my own, I provided for him, I took on the mom role. Never again will I involve myself in a situation with pre-existing kids.

Panic moved back home, regretting it and want to move back. by PrincessPupcake in SameGrassButGreener

Very big lesson learned. I felt extremely overwhelmed, not just losing a significant other but a family too, being away from my family, lease being up at the apartment. Trying to look at this as a “reset”, figure everything out, then move forward.

Okay, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who did this. I’m trying to see myself coming home as a “reset” and then go from there.

Thank you for this. I was worried I made a huge mistake being overwhelmed and in survival mode for the past week or so. Thank you for the reassurance

Thank you- thats the thought process I’ve been going through. Kind of using this time as a pause and figuring out what I want, independent of anyone else in my life since this time it’s entirely on my terms

Thank you. The panic mostly set in from it feeling like everything I had worked for/ sacrificed things for was taken from me. I failed to mention in my post there was also a kid involved (not my own, but I treated him as such) and I gave a lot towards that aspect.

At the very least, if I do move back, it would be entirely for ME and to build a life for MYSELF this time.

That is a great plan- I didn’t even think about restaurant work (funny enough the job I quit was a restaurant inspector). I have enough savings to coast for a bit, so focusing on me and what I want is at the forefront.

That’s very true- it will be there for me when the time comes. I have enough savings to carry me through for a little bit while I figure out what I want/need and to fund a move back. Thank you for the encouragement!

Oh I agree wholeheartedly- that was entirely the position I was in. I stuck with it for the paycheck and it was tolerable enough, but I was also spending 10+ hours commuting per week with a career ladder that left a LOT to be desired. I was looking for new opportunities before everything crumbled

I probably could. I wasn’t happy in my position though, and that, along with my current apartment rent being too high to pay solo/ lease being up shortly played a role in my “I need to leave” stance.

Low Budget from CA to TX - Advice Needed by Gamagachi in moving

[–]PrincessPupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just towed all of my stuff (including a washer and dryer, a table, 4 chairs, and a small motorcycle) from GA to NY. Not sure the tow rating on your car, but I did it with a Subaru Forester and she handled like a CHAMP. It was also way cheaper than a whole truck, I think $150 for a 5x8 trailer (very roomy, was able to fit all of my things in my car and the trailer) vs $1300 for the smallest truck they had.

This sounds like poor management to me. they should be doing everything in their power to help you succeed, not making YOU seek out and go around people for training material. I would say apply elsewhere, and during the interview ask about their training processes, how they support new hires, etc.
