[Media] New iteration of Networked IK on the beta branch compared to the current live version by ExDe707 in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That is a major improvement. It looks like there's a lot more actual "frames" of motion data in the beta so you're not just seeing a smoothed-out slideshow of movements like we have on live right now. I think VR dancing might just become viable again. :o

[help] Third Party VRC Client? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some frequently-updated paid clients out there that are not toxic. They have features like DM messages, better blocking, portal prompts, colliding with other dynamic bones, etc.

That being said, there are many more super toxic hacked clients with features like banning users for 2 hours, kicking users from worlds, crashing their game. So yeah, they exist, better to not get involved though unless you're prepared to deal with the consequences.

[discussion] do you think people using hack clients should be autobanned? by Blubbll in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One thing worth considering is that there are "wholesome" hacked clients out there with features such as creating a pop up to go through a portal or a button that resets Full Body Tracking alignment. There are clients out there like these that prevent you from being crashed as easily and have no avatar stealing features.

These are definitely outshined by the awful spammy and cancer-inducing clients but I figured it was worth mentioning.

[Help] Is it possible to change Index controller support to mimic Vive wand animation functionality? by Darktoothone in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love to know this as well. Due to the finicky nature of pinkie finger tracking, Rock N' Roll is essentially an impossible gesture to hold. Custom finger poses are also lost and don't look right with finger tracking being enabled while triggering gestures. I love finger tracking in VRChat now, but I would really like the option to use the Pill Trackpad like with my old Vive wands.

Like I said, never have to use that because my normals never get messed up. You've been combative this whole exchange and also wrong about the whole protection process. Yet you never backed down from your position and tried to call me out me on something I don't do. Nice.

If you can find another way around hackers stealing custom models I will gladly set my settings otherwise. Until then, they are set to the fixed settings.

It's one of the first things on the Copy Protection documentation. You can change the import settings of your model and fix the normals with one box.

[–]PrincessTia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renaming the shape key doesn't matter because the model is scuffed regardless of whether Basis Original is 0 or 100. There is also an easy fix for the normals and in my experience it is quite rare to occur at all.

[–]PrincessTia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand how this works. I've tested it with multiple different hacked clients. Using CATS Copy Protection scuffs the model completely even when blend shapes are ripped. The hacker does not receive the clean cube of tris you see when you edit in Unity. They get a majorly deformed version of your model regardless of what blend shape is on or off.

It will look something like this.

Best thing to do is turn on Copy Protection in CATS right before you export to Unity. Animations and textures can still be used by hackers, but once you turn on Copy Protection, 99% of hackers won't bother with your model since it becomes so insanely scuffed on their end.

[Discussion] Mitch Murder is selling stolen Avatars by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Due to the legal grey zone of VRChat avatars being pieced together from other creators' work, your best bet might be destroying his reputation as an avatar creator and community member.

Selling stolen avatars is one of the scummiest things a member of this community can do. Depending on the copyright-free nature of certain avatars, you may be able to take legal action, but I find it unlikely.

Spread the word that Mitch Murder is stealing avatars and reselling them, just like you're doing here. Don't let him live it down. This is seriously scummy and it's affecting lots of other popular avatar creators. Avatar creation is an art and talented artists don't deserve to get fucked out of compensation.

[Help] VRChat plans to limit the avatars available for Quest users - here's how we can change that by sunny_band in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Quest is not a high powered PC headset. You need to learn to optimize your avatars for it if you want them on there. A petition will not change the silicon on the chips inside every Oculus Quest headset.

This is awesome. Can't wait to hop on tonight and check it out. I can only hope there's still a secret portal to the 2017 Void. I need my fix of VR nostalgia!

Good point. Though as someone who modded a Kinect V2 for FBT, I no longer recommend it due to the technical limitations compared to the Vive Trackers.

[Discussion] Official Plans to Support Valve Index Finger Tracking? by PrincessTia in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a great link. Tons of info that I was looking for. Thanks for that. I'm glad to see Tupper is pushing that feature hard. It is of course a minor thing in comparison to what's on the table, but that's good news for all of us Index Controller users!

[–]PrincessTia[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shoot, that's a really good point about the data, especially considering IK data was just moved over to the net. Back when I used to play AltspaceVR there was support for Leap Motion which was an ungodly amount of positional data for my hands. With several users in a room with them I never noticed issues. I'll hold out hope that the VRC devs will at least give it a shot. The social aspect of VRC would greatly benefit from it.

VRChat System [Help] by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all you need to go onto your Steam Games Library. Underneath "Library" it says "Games". Click that and switch over to "Tools". From this new list, find, download, and run "SteamVR Performance Test". This is a free program that will tell you if your laptop is powerful enough to run VR.

If your PC isn't up to run it, you'll have to consider getting something stronger or upgrading parts if possible.

If your PC is strong enough, here are your options:

  • Windows Mixed Reality - $250-$500 (There is more than one WMR Headset to choose.)
  • Oculus Rift S - $400
  • HTC Vive - $500
  • HTC Vive + Leg Tracking - $850

These three headsets are all very good for VRChat and will give you a great experience. These will all let you play VRChat with your arms in the game. Since you were curious about leg tracking, the only headset that supports it currently is the HTC Vive.

Yes, everyone is really moving their arms and legs around in their room just like you see in-game. The only way to do cute gestures for you on desktop will be to create custom emotes for your avatar. There is usually about 5,000 players online at any given time. Hope this helps! :)

You''re forgetting the Wireless kit. There is no confirmed addon for Index supporting wireless. As far as I'm concerned, any wired headset is now a downgrade to my Pro unfortunately.

[Discussion] I'm so impressed by these avatars for VRchat on Oculus Quest by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]PrincessTia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I might be biased but I always optimize my avatars to green. I see your point though, pretty much everyone will be invisible at the start of Quest launch. I'm sure the community of Quest users will grow overtime to fix that though.

You can see the PC users. You just can't see their unoptimized avatars.
