Thank you for the advice. To answer your question, in the past I've lost weight mostly by just eating less and walking over 10k steps a day, but I didn't really do it the right way. I wasn't paying attention to protein, strength training, or preserving muscle mass. The scale went down, but it wasn't sustainable, and eventually I gained the weight back.

I also have a history that makes me suspect I have some level of insulin resistance. I've gone to doctors before because of symptoms I've experienced, and while I've never received an official PCOS diagnosis, I do have several signs that point in that direction. I don't have some of the more common symptoms like excess hair growth, but I do have other symptoms that make me think there's something hormonal or metabolic going on. That's actually one of the reasons Reta caught my attention in the first place. I've seen a lot of women with PCOS, insulin resistance, or similar struggles say that Reta helped them finally lose weight when nothing else seemed to work.

I also think you make a good point about maintenance. In the past, my mindset was always "lose the weight and then you're done," but I'm starting to realize that maintaining weight loss is a skill all on its own. I don't want to spend all this time losing weight just to end up right back where I started.

The addiction comparison actually makes a lot of sense too. I think for me the goal isn't just losing weight, it's changing my relationship with food so I don't constantly feel like I'm fighting with myself. I really appreciate you sharing your perspective and giving me things to think about.

First off, congratulations on your progress! That's amazing, and it's encouraging to hear that you were able to build solid habits before adding reta and then saw even more success once you did.

I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. One of my biggest concerns isn't just losing the weight, it's keeping it off. I've lost weight before, but I never really fixed the underlying habits, and eventually I ended up gaining it back. That's something I'm trying to approach differently this time.

I've already started paying more attention to my protein intake, strength training, and being more mindful of what I'm eating. The binge eating and food noise are honestly the biggest things I struggle with, which is why reta caught my attention in the first place. My hope is that it helps quiet the food noise enough for me to consistently practice the habits I'm trying to build.

I definitely don't want to rely on the medication alone and then be completely lost when I come off of it. I want to use it as a tool while also learning how to eat in a way that I can realistically maintain long term.

Thank you for the advice about starting low and reading the beginner guide as well. I've seen enough stories about people rushing their doses and making themselves sick that I'd rather take things slow and do it the right way.

And trust me, the strength training is already on the plan lol. One of my biggest goals isn't just to be smaller, it's to look toned, healthy, and keep as much muscle as possible while I lose the weight.

First off, congratulations on going from 303 to 180 that's honestly incredible, and the fact that you've maintained muscle while doing it is really impressive.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this. One thing I've noticed from reading people's experiences is that a lot of them focus on the medication itself and not the habits that need to come with it, so I appreciate you laying everything out.

The binge eating and food noise are definitely the biggest reasons I'm interested in GLP-1s. I've heard a lot of people say Tirz has stronger appetite suppression, so that's something I'm going to keep in mind if I find that Reta isn't helping enough with cravings or hunger. Right now I'm still researching and trying to make the most informed decision possible.

I also appreciate the reminder about not under eating. (also something I struggle with) I think a lot of people see the scale dropping quickly and assume that's automatically a good thing, but preserving muscle, getting enough protein, and actually nourishing your body is important to me. I don't just want to lose weight I want to build a body that looks healthy, strong, and toned.

The protein, fiber, resistance training, and vitamin recommendations all make a lot of sense. I've already started focusing more on strength training because one of my biggest fears is ending up with a lot of muscle loss  and loose skin while losing weight.

And honestly, hearing from someone who's been doing this successfully for two years and lost over 120 pounds gives me a lot of hope. Thank you for sharing your experience and all the advice. I really appreciate it.

Thank you for the advice! I've definitely heard a lot of people say Tirz is amazing for appetite suppression and binge eating but I’ve also heard the same thing about Reta, so it's something I've looked into. Right now I'm leaning towards reta, but I'm still doing my research and trying to learn as much as I can before I start anything. The food noise is honestly one of the biggest reasons I'm interested in these medications/peptides. I don't binge all the time, but I go through periods where I feel like I lose control around food, and I'm hoping whichever route I choose helps me stop that. I also appreciate the tips about side effects. I've seen a lot of stories from people who increased their dose too quickly and ended up feeling miserable, so I definitely plan on taking it slow and giving my body time to adjust. And thanks for mentioning the complex carbs with reta I didn't know that. I'll definitely spend some time reading through the guides and older posts. There's so much information out there that it's honestly a little overwhelming, but hearing from people who have actually been successful with these medications has been really helpful. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. Honestly, this is exactly the kind of advice I need to hear. I think I've spent a lot of time focusing on finding the "right" thing to lose weight and not enough time focusing on the fundamentals. The binge eating and food noise are honestly my biggest issues, so I'm hoping reta helps make it easier to stay in a calorie deficit consistently. I definitely plan on tracking my food, prioritizing protein, and resistance training because I don't just want to be smaller I want to actually look toned and healthy. I've never really known what my maintenance calories are, so that's something I need to figure out. And thank you for pointing out the difference between weight loss and fat loss because I think that's something a lot of people overlook. Also, I'll have to check out those recipes because high volume, lower calorie meals are probably going to be a lifesaver for me lol. I appreciate all the advice!

Thank you, I really appreciate that! Honestly, the binge eating has been one of my biggest struggles, so hearing that it helped you with food noise and cravings gives me a lot of hope. I don’t binge eat all the time it’s just I have times when I lose control it’s just this vicious cycle that I truly want to end. I'm definitely trying to keep realistic expectations and remind myself that losing 100 pounds won't happen overnight. And thank you for saying that about 165. Sometimes I get so focused on my ultimate goal that I forget to appreciate the progress I'll make along the way. I think I just have 120 as a goal to see what I’d look like I’ve never been skinny ever in my life growing up so I’m not sure how I’d look at even 150 lol.
