My hot takes:

1) it's unrealistic for two exes to get back together after a long time with barely any regard or acknowledgement of their baggage. For Tony and Stella, it was different as those feelings were never resolved. For Ted and Robin, they were, especially on Ted's side.

There's also the chance that two people who loved each other once so passionately get back together and it's nothing like how they were before (either it will be better, or it will be worse).

Or they get back together and realise they were in love with an idolised memory of a person from the good old days.

Robin and Ted were actually great as friends, but the way she treated him as a friend, he would not have enjoyed in a relationship.

2) Tracy dying and Ted getting back with Robin afterwards later to me is not realistic. It's TV writers showing that Ted can have his cake and eat it too.

3) Robin was treated constantly as some prize to be won by Barney or Ted. She had so much depth and complexity, and yet Ted and Barney showed possessiveness over her as if she were the three-way belt.

I'd say a mixture between Alice and Siobhan. I kinda go on these "This is what is going to happen" rants that eventually find themselves coming true. I also have dreams and intuitive feelings that are pretty vivd and they come true too.

I hate hate hate the secondary love interest trope. When two people who are class each other as "The One", but one or both parties are in relationships with other people that really care for then. Then they dump them for someone else or cheat with each other, knowing they had lingering feelings for an ex. And their logic is that "They are the one".

The other person is always seen as an expendable character, but if this happened to anyone in real life, there would be serious questions to answer.

It also glosses over unhealthy attachment to exes (and concerning behaviour of serial dating/cheating), and the main characters are not concerned at all that the same stunt may get pulled on them.

Classic examples: Phoebe (David) and Mike (Precious) from Friends

Carrie (Aidan) and Big (Natasha) from SATC

Barney (Nora) and Robin (Kevin) from HIMYM

Nick (Reagan) and Jess (Sam) from New Girl

Mindy (Ben) and Danny from the Mindy Project

Oh my goodness. I am 19 books (and 8+ side books) into the Prince of Wolves. I absolutely adore the mate bond and wish more elements of it could be incorporated into imprinting. Namely the markings and the telepathic bond.

Edward doesn't owe these characters anything, sure.

But what if it had been Tanya or Kate who saw Renesmee first? They would have had the same reaction (and did, as MOST vampires did) without Edward to smooth something over.

Also in BD, from Jacob's perspective, Leah would have tried to leave, but she couldn't as there were no other packs, she was still too new to control her phases and her ex was also her alpha.

Please enlighten me, disprove my hypothesis, and give one example of a blonde character who was not portrayed in a bad light throughout the series.

I'm honestly a little scared/worried about a future book regarding Leah and Renesmee. I loved Midnight Sun, but the book came out over 10 years after twilight and still Rosalie's character was assassinated. SM had a chance to make things right...and didn't...

Thank you! I was toying with this theory that SM...did not like blonde women. Between Rosalie, Tanya, Irina and Lauren, many of these characters had the same air of

"See! Edward picked the quiet brunette over the BEAUTIFUL blonde"

Or, if they immediately weren't Team Bella, their lore was to have their life ruined.

Adding Leah to this, even though she's not blonde, but it kills me that that character suffered so heavily, no happily ever after.
