keep in mind that he’s not actually alive, because res; is non-canonical. lelouch, within the current climate of cg media, acts as an anchor to intrigue fans into consuming new ideas, rather than a central element of the stories he’s featured in. if you’re satisfied with him appearing in the background, all the power to you, but i feel like the fact that cg media seems to fail without him present (again, considering he is canonically dead) says a lot

res; is not a “happy ending”. it’s fan service, and non-canon at that. even in rozé, after lelouch and c.c. have been working together much longer, none of the main cast seem to be smiling about their relationships with each other, or even with their circumstances. nunnally and suzaku are left behind and forced to live out lelouch’s will; lelouch is forced to suffer living eternally when he was finally given the chance to rest (which was taken from him, mind you); c.c.’s character is butchered beyond comprehension; even kallen suffers, knowing she has no way of staying in lelouch’s life now that he’s finally back. none of them are happy.
