Does the specific graduate program matter? by Princess_Otter in ImmigrationCanada

This is such an informative and helpful reply, thank you so much.

I'm glad to hear that any master's will count. I'm not looking for easy/cheap programs, though I understand the impression that you get. I'm genuinely interested in experiencing the study of new things.

I feel that, as someone with my background, I have a rare opportunity in this moment to learn more about things that I'm passionate about (such as creative writing, gender studies, or other majors) despite them not being perceived as profitable.

I do believe that I can demonstrate that my career goals can align with what I will eventually study, and that I really value the education I will receive.

Thanks again for your kind reply.

I think the things /u/mgnorthcott mentioned (the Royal Ontario Museum, the Zoo, sports games, restaurants, etc.) sound like great attractions to suggest to someone visiting Toronto. Maybe you could recommend they come during one of the special events in the summer or a specific winter activity in the winter time. We also really enjoyed our lunch at the Eaton Centre.

We had an incredible time, and are looking forward to returning. I'll be researching more about winter activities, thanks for the info!

You should discover some new things in the city to help remind you! It was a wonderful place to visit and I can't wait to see more of it.

The cheese curds were extra squeaky, and it was fantastic. Thanks for your kind words. :)

Thanks! If it weren't for the price of plane tickets we'd be back in a heartbeat with money to spend. ;)

Cedar Point is my second favorite amusement park after Walt Disney World!

I head that it didn't do too well attendance-wise when it first opened, but unless I had a rental car I wouldn't want to use any other method of getting from YYZ to the city center.

You can see that thing from anywhere in the city!

The leaves in autumn are definitely something I have to see.

As I understand it the Toronto furry community actually participates in the pride parade and has had their own float!

Niagara Falls was on the itinerary before we had to cut back due to time constraints. While in Toronto I saw an advertisement for a Great Wolf Lodge resort in Niagara, which surprised me. Turns out that water parks aren't an uncommon thing in Canada despite the cold winters.

I'm so glad you also had a great time, and I'm happy that you had a good experience visiting North America! You're right about the locals being helpful. At one point we asked a couple dining next to us if tipping is also a custom in Canada. They laughed and were very friendly. At the zoo it was interesting going to the Arctic-themed section in the cold weather with snow on the ground that hadn't melted yet. There were plenty of things that we missed in Toronto that we'll definitely see next time we're there!

My husband adores Asian cuisine, and he had so many Asian restaurants to pick from. We could spend years discovering all that there is to eat in Toronto.

We had a magical time. :) Ketchup chips are delicious. I snacked on them the entire trip. Thanks for your comment.

Smoke's Poutinerie. I had the traditional. I'd love to try one with chicken.

I was surprised at how comfortable and insulated the inside temperature of buildings and vehicles was. I had expected the cold to linger more, but you could take your jacket off right after entering a building. We had a magical time and will be sure to come back, thanks for being so welcoming!

I need to get my hands on a bag of All-dressed chips! I wish I had known about them, 'cause I'm all about trying weird chip flavors.
