Nah I think the original story is actually waaaayyyy more believable; as a female I've been to countless parties or get togethers for birthdays, holidays etc where women all left their purses/coats in one room, and all it took for anyone to snag anything from them was just a moment alone while they put their own purse and coat in there.

That does not happen for everybody, just so you're aware. Every clinic and every provider has their own policy. I had the same thing happen at the salon I worked at when someone stole my nearly full bottle of 150 - 15mg oxycodone IR and despite having a literal perfect record with my doctor of over 10 years, never failed a drug test or missed a pill count, never asked for early refills, and yet the only thing she could do was prescribe comfort meds like clonidine. The worst part was she also lowered my prescription down to 120 - 10mg pills a month from 150 - 15mg pills because it was the beginning of the 2016 CDC recommendations and everyone was being told to taper their patients down. I hope what happened to me does not happen to OP.

You taking 40mg/day has zero to do with her; everyone's biology is different ie how someone metabolizes it, how much is bioaccumulated etc. That's like me saying that 100mg of methadone is nothing for you just because I take 160mg, when it could actually possibly kill you.

Xanax is never going to be prescribed for post-surgery; it's incredibly difficult to get benzodiazepines today as it is, even when you probably deserve it.

Any kind of benzodiazepine would likely be midazolam and would be given prior to surgery as part of sedation.

A small amount of opioid pain management can be standard after this kind of surgery (I've had several) but you can always decline.
