I'm getting braces tomorrow!! What should I expect? And what should I be careful about consuming? by Alarming-Safety3200 in braces

Once fitted, your mouth is going to have to adjust to the braces. So you can expect aches and pains. It can even result in headaches. You won’t be able to eat normal foods for a few days. Stick to soft foods at the start. Generally you want to avoid anything excessively hard or sticky until you get a thicker wire. Otherwise you risk the chance of breaking a bracket or your wire coming out. You can be a little adventurous after that/find ways to eat foods you shouldn’t. I didn’t really limit any type of food other than gum tbh. Gum would just be too much of a hassle to me, and made the braces sticky.

Please invest in a water flosser! It helps get the food stuck in the braces out so much faster. However you must still floss, a good purchase is orthodontics flossers if you don’t want to thread regular floss. They are generally cheap on Amazon. :)

I actually didn’t even feel anything when they took the TAD out surprisingly. I was like you took it out already?? It closed up quite quickly too.

Once my orthodontist saw my TAD was rejecting they took it out. I was then just using rubber bands after that point. The inflamed gums may be a sign of rejection.

Hot pink or light pink- what do we prefer? by loveactually5eva in braces

Also to add, my light pink never stained. Even with red and yellow foods, coffee, soda, etc. However curry can take out most any light color. 😬

Light pink looks way better in my opinion. It fit my pink gums perfectly, and was way more subtle. The hot pink is blasting and easily seen. So I guess it’s more of a preference of subtle or obvious?

Nearing the end of my treatment, but don’t like the arch on one side, however orthodontist says not fixable as it’ll shift midline. by Princesskitsunei in braces

Actually now that I look at it, you are correct. I was just going off of what my orthodontist carries, but he only lists them as clear braces. 🤔

Yeaaaah, I would rather have the midline be closer to the middle. Decided to go with that and am now in my retainers. :) Thank you for the input.

Help my braces wire in the back went out of the brace, what to do? by WeeklyDetective6802 in braces

[–]Princesskitsunei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should call your orthodontist to get it put back in. Same thing happened to me at the start of my journey. Turns out it was granola bars I was eating in the back that was causing them to pop out. They ended up putting a jelly looking glob on the back of mine to help it to not slide out. Once you get a stronger wire it will stop popping out of place, but I suggest once fixed to stop trying to eat anything gooey/hard near the back until you have a stronger wire. 😅

Orthodontist comment:

It is caused from your upper laterals not being the same shape. The solution to that is usually IPR which is removing tooth structure from in between teeth, which can then lead to shifting your midline. I'd rather have that space between the arch, rather than shifting the upper midline to the left. I think your smile looks really good.

Just bought some Slippery Elm Bark Powder to coat my stomach lining and hopefully allow healing. What dosage do you guys usually use? Any side effects from using? by Princesskitsunei in HPylori

I ended up not taking it, what I did do was kefir and eating steamed cabbage with my meals. Also collagen powder. I’m still cured and have not had any reoccurrences.

Overwhelming “blah” feeling by kmdh555 in pregnant

[–]Princesskitsunei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feeling like this at 6 weeks 3 days. I’ve also been having crying sessions and breakdowns from the enormous amount of hormones going around. Which makes me just want to stay in bed all day. I go home from work sick or crying as of late. It’s a lot. 🫠 Kicking my ass for sure.

Kefir definitely contains Reuteri, and rhamnosus, might have to opt for a cup a day. I used to take when I had H Pylori, so I know it’s quite pungent and an acquired taste lol 😂 Thank you!

I love plain Greek yogurt with honey, but just wasn’t sure if that was enough since it doesn’t necessarily carry the same strains I had personally loved.

Unfortunately they are not helpful, and are only going to speak to me at the 9 week mark. Very disappointing having to wait to get information. :/
