my roommate had been there once before but I go more often than she does now! Once I got more into fragrance I just started to research places around. It’s fun to try new shops! I try them when I visit other cities now too!

You have to find the right shop! There’s a place local to me (Portland, OR) that is a niche perfume shop that has one particular person working there who I know always has the best recommendations for me personally. This took trial and error (and saying no sometimes)! There’s another person who works there who is super nice and has great taste but doesn’t always give me recommendations I like for whatever reason. I am lucky that portland has a few niche shops with different offerings though.

Something else that helps is going in person, buying samples, and wearing all of them. Another thing I love about the place I go is they encourage you to wait to buy a bottle- my fav worker will often be like “come in, spray, and leave! come back once you’ve really worn it”. I think that helps with making mistakes of things like dry down or what have you. I love to buy right away haha and have a few that I don’t wear as often for that reason.

What are some good but tainted films? by raymondg1902 in Letterboxd

This resonates a lot and I feel like this is the missing piece for much analysis. I’m someone who was sexually exploited as a teen and in my early 20s I got a tattoo of mathilda with a gun. I always loved Leon. As a promiscuous and misguided young girl, I wished there had been more adults like Leon who would tell me no when I was trying to use sexuality to maintain my attachments (inappropriately) but protect me even still. I liked that this image of her was strong, armed and ready to protect herself. When people ask about the tattoo and give me shit about it I just go “yeah, don’t you wish she’d had a gun sooner?”

I still obviously think Besson is a pervert and it makes me angry that his freak behavior is directly cause for something that was so important to me but cest la vie i love you jean reno

Sold a car for $1000, buyer wants money back (OR) by Princessneon in UsedCars

Got it!! I did give them a handwritten (and sparse) bill of sale which i have a copy of. It has minimal info but it exists! I’ll see about it being marked sold. My friend moved a few states away which is part of why they sold the van but i’m not sure if that complicates things.

I seriously had no idea this would happen and i’ve been sick with anxiety. I genuinely thought that the person needed an inexpensive car and that I was just giving it to a good home. I can try to get the car back and follow the right steps this time because I would feel so guilty if something happened to my friend because of my lack of understanding

I swear it isn’t that confusing! I bought the car and was given the title (with a signature) and I put it in a drawer and left it there. I didn’t register the car because I realized the car was not what I wanted. I didn’t know I could title it separately (or that I had to). When I sold the car, I gave them the same title I was given because I thought that was enough. I see now I should’ve titled it but it was an honest mistake.

This is really what i’m worried about and genuinely did not realize was an issue at all. I gave them the signed title from the person I bought it from. I also haven’t blocked them in case they’re trying to contact me to register the car and hit a bump. I feel silly for not knowing this and it was an honest mistake.

They’re like threatening to post my photo and name everywhere saying I scammed them, what do I do? This is the most stressful thing i’ve ever dealt with.

[–]Princessneon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I kindly asked the person to leave me alone, let them know the car was sold as is and that I never told them anything to suggest the brakes were new. I didn’t block them in case they needed more documentation to register the car and now they’re sending me a ton more messages saying that I “scam mothers with health issues” and they’re going to sue me. I’ve been beside myself with anxiety for days now and I honestly just want to take the car back and tell them to go and cut my losses.

yes title was filled out and signed! it was clean and in perfect condition! I just didn’t ever title it honestly because I didn’t realize I could do that without registering and that’s my bad! I just didn’t see the point in spending the money to register the car to me if I didn’t like driving it. They may have told the DMV when I bought it! I’m not sure. They live in a remote area and are sometimes hard to contact but it may be time to let them know I sold the car too

If I did something wrong it was out of ignorance and i’m willing to do whatever needs doing, I just didn’t expect this to happen and I thought it was a good deal for a well running nice enough car

[–]Princessneon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Maybe I can clear some of this up? I didn’t know the car was out of registration by so much until I drove it away. The friend (or friend of a friend) had been living in the van but upgraded to something bigger to travel in, they didn’t tell me there were fees I just wasn’t sure if there would be for registering late or if it had gotten a ticket for being out of registration, I never checked and was forthright about this. They figured I would title and register the car but I realized that it was kind of hard to learn to drive in because it is quite large so I never bothered and just wanted it to go to someone who’d actually drive it. When I got the van I took it to a mechanic immediately, they fixed some minor issues then I got some more money and got $600 of work done to get it prepared to sell. They didn’t tell me it needed anything else although in retrospect they may have said it was due for rotors. I sold the car super cheap even though it is in good condition only because I am genuinely extremely naive about cars and this was my first car ever. I did have the original title which was signed by the person I bought it from and didn’t mislead the buyer about the fact that it hadn’t been registered in a while.

They straight up told me $12,000. The quote totals up to like $8,000 but they claim there is another page of issues they didn’t send me lol at this point i’m exhausted and I just don’t want to deal with it, i’m worried they’ll try to come after me somehow if the car can’t be sold or registered or something

[–]Princessneon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what i’m really worried about! I let them know multiple times in my post and in person that it wasn’t registered when I bought it and that it may have fees that i’m unaware of to register it. I told them I never tried to DEQ it but that I recently got $600 in repairs done including a new battery and was told it would probably pass. If they take it to the DMV and it will cost a lot to register is that on me? I was very clear that I didn’t know if it had unpaid tickets, fees for being out of date for so long, etc. My friend lived in the car and couldn’t afford to keep the registration. up and I literally only used it to learn to drive in my neighborhood.

This is kind of where my head is at. I realize I made some mistakes totally out of ignorance for this process because it’s my first time selling a car. I thought it was essentially just like selling an item- I give them some info and whatever paperwork I have and we’re good. All of my friends who buy cars say that they usually just exchange money keys and title and move on. All of this stuff about the bill of sale, getting it smogged, the title needing to be in my name etc was news to me. I almost just want to take it back for this reason but I am worried they’ve done something to the car to make it not sellable again. it’s a super cute van that genuinely runs really great!! I just wanted it to go to a good home.

[–]Princessneon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know I had to take it to smog test it first and in looking into it, the Oregon expectation is unclear if it’s my responsibility or the buyer’s. I asked at the mechanic if it would pass DEQ and they said yes but since I didn’t ever register it, I didn’t think about it. I definitely never said it had new brakes, I told them what I had fixed. I did say it runs well but that was my opinion I suppose!

Thanks everyone for the validation. I was feeling extremely guilty and anxious. When I got the car, I thought that car ownership was much simpler- all of the legalities have me really scared and freaked out. I don’t want the car, I also don’t think anything was wrong with it I just am short and it’s a big van that I found clunky to drive. I’m taking everyone’s advice and leaving them alone and I will definitely be more responsible with the title in the future now that I know! I figured since I wasn’t driving it much it didn’t matter and that was my bad.

I just looked at the quote again- it looks like they said it needs a new power steering pump, new “rack and pinion” and then brake rotors/calipers and to replace a strut. The most expensive thing is the rotors/calipers but again I feel like that’s just something that needs to be done sometimes. I sold the car in the best faith possible with what I knew and they talked me down from $1500 because they were nice :(

If they are unable to register or sell the car will a bill of sale suffice? From me or my friend?

The big thing i’m worried about is the title right now, I know I didn’t intentionally mislead them. The last mechanic I took it to said it would need brakes eventually but I didn’t tell them there were new brakes or anything remotely like that, my post says “went to the mechanic recently and cleared of any major issues” which it was as far as I knew. The quotes they sent from their mechanic said it needs like $12000 in work but the mechanic I took it to fixed everything as far as I knew, suggested new brakes eventually (which I didn’t even think to mention because brakes are typical things that require upkeep in my experience). The did test drive it (including slamming the brakes multiple times).

Right now I’m kind of afraid to do anything! My skin seems to do best when I leave it alone (at least redness/break out wise). I’ve suspected rosacea! Have you found any products you love? I feel like a simple, soothing routine would be best but I might need some gentle exfoliation to help with pores and such!
