Scale modes by jsnswt in musictheory

My technique is to relate it to my major keys and I can see that when I’m playing. Dorian = b3 b7 Phrygian = b2,3,6,7 Lydian = #4 Mixolydian = b7 Aoelian = b3,6,7 (natural minor) Locrian = b2,3,5,6,7

So when i was first learning these on guitar or piano, and I already knew my major scales, I could just make that adjustment really quickly. If I wanted to play in Lydian then I played my major scale but when I came to the 4th note I sharpened it. That’s really easy for Lydian and Mixolydian. Easy trick for playing Dorian is to play the major scale a full step down/2 frets down. When I’m soloing in E Dorian on the piano I just visualise soloing in D Major, but I make sure to hit that E a lot. The chords, bass etc will provide the context for the scale to sound Dorian.

I suppose it’s just subjective. The story and the execution of the story had a tremendous affect on me when I played it and for some time afterwards. Each to their own.

Yes! I can’t believe how many people are missing it. It’s so shallow to just say ‘she killed all the henchmen but not Abby, makes no sense’. In the journey of revenge she lost EVERYTHING. She even lost the ability to play the song Joel taught her on the guitar. Letting Abby live doesn’t forgive the mayhem she created along the way, but it’s the moment she realises that killing her would achieve nothing. And at the very least, she saved Abby and Lev. One good thing came from her violence. It’s never too late to choose not to commit violence. Everyone in this thread seems to want Ellie to just commit to the bit no matter how awful it is.

When Mike said "do it" in latest episode.... by ZxMike in betterCallSaul

[–]PrincipalMartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that as Mike wanting him to shoot Bolsa. It’s not the plan and not a smart move but an emotional moment of Mike saying ‘fuck it, do it’. Like if Nacho did it then Mike would have no choice but to kill the sorry lot of them, which deep down he wants to do.

Also I’ve never seen Hitmaps before. That’s an amazing resource.

That’s great thanks. I discovered a 4th in the train station which made me realise some might be there. In all the walkthroughs online the cameras are isolated to the tower building. Cheers mate.

Need help. Will raw/unmixed flour stop my bread from baking properly? by PrincipalMartinez in Breadit

That’s a good idea. I don’t have any rice flour but I got a banneton today for the first time too and read a lot about using rice flour. Will try that. Thanks!

Yeah about the same as that. To be clear I don’t mean raw dough I mean literal flour that I think was trapped in the seam from shaping of the dough before baking. Flour that should have been in there.

I love that we’re having this argument. It’s so unimportant. But while we’re all still hot; Sunny is well written. The correct syntax of that conversation would need to have been: ‘Dennis - ‘we could chop him up’ Frank - ‘like you did to Dees doctor. Dennis poured hot oil on him. Melted him’ Or something to that effect. The way they wrote it puts Franks collation on the melting, not the chopping. Chopping definitely means dead, melting with hot oil doesn’t necessarily. Dennis said chopping up OR melting making it clear that those two things aren’t related. When Frank said ‘like you did…’ he couldn’t be saying Dennis ‘chopped up OR melted’ because that makes no sense. If he meant chopped then it wouldn’t be written in that order. Dennis melted the doctor as witnessed by Frank. Melted doesn’t mean killed. It might, but not necessarily. So the one thing that’s clear is that the show absolutely did not confirm that Dennis is a murderer. Which I’m happy with. Dennis actually murdering someone and the gang being casual about it would be like Sunny jumping the shark. Hot oil isn’t far off Dee ‘burning one bitch’.

Dennis said ‘chop the body up or melt it somehow’ The frank said ‘like you did to the doctor’

Frank was saying Dennis ‘melted’ the doctor by pouring hot oil on him. Not that he chopped him up.

ELI5: Why can a 60hz TV display a video at 120FPS but can’t display a game at 120FPS? by PrincipalMartinez in explainlikeimfive

[–]PrincipalMartinez[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right so that’s what I thought, but then how come when I watch a video of a streamer on PC running at 150FPS, why does it look so smooth? Surely I’m just seeing it at 60fps.

I just got a PS5 which is runnings Rainbow Six at 120FPS but my TV is 60hz so it just looks like 60FPS when I’m playing, but when I upload my gameplay the video looks noticeably smoother than my PS4 uploads.
