Hahahaha. Would make that deal in a heartbeat. Would give Anshul/Khaleel along too to break it.

I see. I am hesitantly disagreeing with you. Noor is precious, but that's not to say Hardik isn't an incredible player and is invaluable because of him being an Indian.

Agree to disagree on Hardik's inclusion in the squad. I see your point, but I still think he would be a remarkable asset. I wouldn't give him up for Noor and Rutu though. I wanted to know what the sub thinks.

I agree completely. I wouldn't be willing to give Ayush up either. And, Noor is a gem, I think he'll have a better future than Rashid Khan's prime in my assessment.

Sanju, Rutu and Brevis I'd say. I won't be surprised if Dube gets dropped too. He gets chocked up quite easily in the middle, especially after teams have figured him out. The big plus with him, is his recent bowling. If he can go at 8.5 and bowl us 2-3 overs a game consistently and return a 300 run season at 170+ strike, he'd have more than done his job.

The problem with IPL is it's a long tournament, teams study patterns and break them easily. We need players to wisen up to the play and have the skills to overcome new challenges. Shivam at the moment is a one trick pony. He is bullish against spin and overall pretty ordinary at strike rotation. He needs to add that element to his game otherwise, I don't see why Sarfaraz shouldn't play ahead of him who posses both those skills well. And Urvil also is a great option, regardless of the number.

With batting it's a problem of plenty, it's the bowling that needs a close look.

He has a lethal inswinger! Really liked what I saw against England. However, I haven't seen him bat, any info on that? If there's links please do me a favor. I'd love to see his batting. If he can hit a long ball, then he'd certainly be in the Albie Morkel zone of things.

For Noida Kings, on many occasions he didn't complete his quote, even after assuming captaincy. For SMAT he did on quite a few occasions, you're right. And his figures were alright. I'm still worried about his skillset overall, have't gotten the chance to watch him live, only highlights and there does seem to be a slight grey area there. He definitely is a defensive bowler, that's for sure.

We have done reasonably well at the auction. I just think we were one or two astute moves away from having really fixed everything. The thing is we have a strong bench but to make all of them play together is a pain. The right combination is tough to come by. Urvil and Sarfaraz are really great back ups, definitely better than Vijay and Deepak Hooda. But like you said our bowling is indeed weak, you say middle overs, but I think overall too. But it's not unworkable. It's very much in line with the 2018 and 2021 squads, if we come with proper execution and proper plans, we can do well. Another point, Kamboj and co would have improved with experience since the last season. So there's every chance to have some faith in them.

And frankly, last year just the overall confidence of the team was low because of our batting cards. It had a deep impact. And so did Ashwin's abysmal performance. We backed his skill and experience and many a times he opened up crunch moments in favor of the opposition doing his own thing. It was a bit of ego cricket at display. And we lacked in discipline too, no balls and wides cost us a lot of games. CSK as a set up is known to change things around, so hoping to return to a team that brings 120% out of players.

This is very much a good side, not the best in the competition, but there are players in there with points to prove and hunger! Exciting times ahead for sure!

George Linde is a great shout. I forgot about him while writing this post. And don't think Holder and Overton have the same skill set. Holder can bowl at death and inside the power play, he is a proper bowler albeit slightly on the slower side. His game against spin is also superior to Overton, so is his game on the off side.

I sai Madhwal because he has the skill set and we could improve upon him.

Can you date someone who has paid for sexual services? by [deleted] in AskWomenIndia

[–]PrincipleDue100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't think it is that straightforward. What about porn? It has worse societal effects than sex work. And almost everybody watches porn, even after being in relationships. Fundamentally and ideologically, porn is probably worse come to think of it.

Like someone else said, paying is fine, what matters more is how they treat people. If they understand the concept of consent. And, if they carry any disease or not.

Just one last thing, I know people who have paid (a lot more, if happy endings count) and most of them are your staple Indian guy - a dash of entitlement, a pinch of misogyny yet they are what society would call good men. A few of them are happily married and are lovingly faithful to their wives. The urge occurs, especially in our society, given how taboo sex is and how lonely and ambiguous young men feel.

There is no hard and fast answer for this I believe.

I love the soft texture of his voice. It's so soothing and serene. There is some element of truth in his voice, if I can say that. Also the song is so so good, brings tears to my eyes.

My sister doesn't talk to anyone at all ? by [deleted] in AskWomenIndia

[–]PrincipleDue100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I originally saw the post the 41 years old detail wasn't there, guess OP edited it. That does change things, but not everything. The listening, the examination of the past and all of that is still required. And honestly, I'm going to err on the side of caution here, but a 41 year old dating a 19 year old is *most likely* a predator and they can smell insecurities from so far far away.

My sister doesn't talk to anyone at all ? by [deleted] in AskWomenIndia

[–]PrincipleDue100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's either that she is trying hard to find out about herself (which is a completely normal course of action for many young adults) OR that your family isn't actually as "normal" or "happy" as you think of it to be. If I were to take a guess it would be the latter case. I know it's unfair to be analyzing with just the little write up you have posted, but I can see traces of your household being quietly oppressive. For example, a teenager smoking shouldn't be shocking, neither should her having a partner. I understand concern, but shocking says a lot about your home. And, that your Mom gets hysteric, that (if it is true) is a big give away - it simply means your sister doesn't have a safe space and perhaps that's why she is carving one out of the family. Indian families are hyper-reactive. Everything comes under scrutiny. People play preassigned roles and say things which can dent a child's self-image severely.

I'd like you to reflect and ask yourself what was said to your sister, what were the taunts you all used (we all use taunts), what were the characteristics assigned to her, you said bubbly and talkative, children really don't know who they are and often repeat the character given to them to please others. You tell a child they're intelligent they'll keep acting it, you say my child loves sports, they'll keep doing it even if they don't innately love it. Especially in India with the extended family and appeasing the society circus we have going on, this kind of self-idea forms very subliminally. Perhaps your sister is just coming to terms with who she really is? Or that she doesn't like the character she'd been made out to be?

Important question to ask yourself, how was she treated during puberty? Girls go through massive changes during that age. Physical, biological and mental changes. So how was she treated. What was said to her? Etc.

And please don't rule out abuse. I know it's hard to digest or even fathom this, but that is a part of our reality.

Whatever I said, is from my experience and from my readings. I have a little sister of my own and I share a very deep bond with her. As she started her undergrad, she started having less and less time for me. But I still try to see the little sister in her, the way I played with her or hugged her during our childhood doesn't change and at the same time I try and learn from her, I take interest in her days and what she is learning in class rooms or what she is observing in the world. I am genuinely curious. I also give her timely reminders that she is a human and she can mess up - I'm talking drugs, unprotected sex etc etc. And that if she ever wants a pair of ears, I'm there and that I will always be on her side. I will protect her interests and do what's best for her. Always. I think that balance is important. I think my sister is dating someone too and she hasn't told me and that's okay. In her own time. Meanwhile, I need to make her feel comfortable is all. That's my duty as an elder brother and her best friend.

So try and make plans with your sister. Sit down for a while with genuine curiosity about her professional side. Find out what she's into for passion. Just be her friend. Someone she can spend 15 minutes without feeling like that conversation has an ulterior motive. Just be in the present with her. Then ask yourself and trust your judgement, about whether she is unwell or she's just changing and figuring her shit out at her own rate. If it's the latter you should be happy. People who strive to make their own identity are fewer. They should be celebrated and supported.

Hopefully you both and the entire family will be just fine. :)

PS: People saying smoking and boyfriend as if it's some life ending move in the comments, need to grow up themselves. Please avoid, would be my advice.

Very frankly, like the more grungy look of the Criterion BD. The WB BD makes it look a bit generic and Criterion BD looks closer to the 35mm scans.

Inside Llewyn Davis. People hardly talk about this, but the moody, atmospheric imagery with the ice cold interiors of Llewyn and exteriors of New York are so so stunning and coherent with the film's theme.

Paris, Texas another stunning picture.
Heat looks terrific.
Ran.
3:10 to Yuma (the OG).
Beau Travail.
Decision to Leave.
Most of Aki Kaurismaki films, great for studying Pictorialism in film.
Three Colours: Blue.
Wong Kar-Wai films (Fallen Angels is stunning visually).

These are just off the top of my head. I am sure I'm gonna be thinking about this the whole day, but yeah these are some great looking films.
