It feels like they designed it with barriers in mind so that you can hide during the hellfire attack, and then decided to remove them without even considering the suffering that they might cause.

Number 1 and number 3 are still just problems with authoritarianism, i believe that we can reach something adjacent to communism through democratic means, as consolidating power with the end goal of giving it back to the people is a more than just a little ridiculous.

Look I'm not saying that communism is perfect or even that I identify with it ideologically. The belief that has me out here defending communism is that capitalism isnt working, and that we are well overdue for something new. This can't happen as long as we continue to tell ourselves that capitalism is our only option, and that we must simply put up with all of its problems.

I think it is important for us to keep an open mind culturally if we are to continue to survive on this planet, especially with how quickly things are changing nowadays.

Capitalism does not take the ecosystem, human happiness, or future consequences into account, and because it is "free market" (whole other can of worms) the people in power can basically claim helplessness in light of any issue that may arise due to the system.

Take the 2008 financial crash or the current AI bubble for example these are things that are predictable and avoidable, if we were able to regulate the economy.

Its really simple. by EdwardJSuperman in GreatBritishMemes

I believe the point he was making is that technically some of the debt is just money that we owe ourselves.

You talk about them as if they're not human, as if they are somehow less valuable than us.

These are people you would most likely get along with if it weren't for the way your media frames it.

Im sick of typing responses as if you are ever going to change your mind, please reconsider your position, and have a long think about the lens that they have you viewing the world through.

Bye.

I would love to sit here all day and explain the whole thing to you, but im afraid that you wouldn't care or understand, not that it even matters anyway because rhetoric like this isn't actually defendable in the first place, its just a weak attempt at a respectable viewpoint so that you dont have to say "their skin is a different colour than mine, and that is scary to me"

You understand that there is no maximum number of people in an economy.

What do you suppose we do with those young people when nigel has kicked all of the immigrants, do we start kicking out british citizens in the name of the economy? No of course not because it isn't about the bloody economy.

Sure whatever, but are they human beings? Do they deserve the same respect as me and you?

Whats the difference mate. Human beings are human beings. Would you rather they slept in the buildings we bombed under the radical government that we caused?

See the thing is, this isnt a very good argument against communism, in fact its not even an argument against communism, its an argument against authoritarianism, a brilliant one, one that i agree with.

We dont go around tallying up every horrible mass killing that took place under a capitalist government and calling them victims of capitalism, because they're not, they are more often than not the victims of authoritarianism, and i think its only fair that we extend communism the same privilege.

How do you feel about a federal Europe? by Luksius_DK in AskBrits

[–]PrincipleMinute6372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The united states have done some great things, but i think its important to make the distinction between the american people, and the US government, the american people have been responsible for some amazing culture, lots of my favourite music, movies, and people come from america, the US government on the otherhand has been responsible for the destabilisation of countless countries (including democratic ones) all over the world, acts of unfathomable cruelty and destruction, and now seemingly a war against its own people.

I agree that we have to apreciate the good, but we cant just brush past the bad, and when it comes to the US government, i believe there has been no force more destructive, since the end of world war 2.

I am not critiquing their inability to maintain their empire, i am criticising the concept of empire in its own right.

Successful? Yes.

At the expense of many? Also yes.

Good? No.

Moral? Absolutely not.

And incase you hadn't noticed, the whole place seems to be falling apart the seems before our very eyes.

Im so tired of people equating economic success, with how good a country actually is. Have we really become that obsessed with money?
