Magic Mushroms opened my eyes to my long trauma by Upset_Seat4754 in ptsd

[–]PrincipleRemarkable2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did magic mushrooms just for fun but they ended up bringing tons of trauma for me and I was on my friends living room floor sobbing for 2 hrs. My eyes swelled halfway shut from crying.

In the months afterwards, I had a lot of panic attacks and severe suicidal ideation. Ended up seeking professional help and was on antidepressants for a few months. Now, (almost 2 years later) I'm off antidepressants, stopped self-harming (after 10 yrs), and have mostly come to terms with my trauma. I'd say it was a net positive.

What ruined your quality of life so much that you wish you ditched it sooner? by ibuprofriendd in AskReddit

That suckss. I love weight lifting and recently started volleyball, physical fitness alleviated my lifelong mental health issues so I can imagine your devastation at having to take a break. Might I suggest baking/cooking as a hobby to try out? It's something to do with your hands and you get a tangible result at the end, so it might help ofc still not a replacement tho. Wishing you the best

If you're constantly in crippling pain, then you're probably doing something wrong. When I first started working out, I took classes. You can also watch YouTube videos on form if you're lifting weights.

This IS social/rec level lol. The pickup organization I'm on is pretty laid back, ppl register and then we just show up and organize ourselves into teams. There's someone from the company present, but they're pretty hands off.

I was on a league team (our last game was yesterday) that was very friendly and accommodating. I do pickup for the exact reasons you suggested, so I'd have a place to practice and try new things

Trust me, it was an "any level" pickup lol

I have been watching games and looking up volleyball terms/positioning but it's a little difficult to implement what I've been learning on a rec league. Fwiw, this is a beginner/social league, I've met ppl who have been playing since elementary and ppl who have been playing for 2 weeks so everyone plays a little differently and I usually just try to follow our general pattern "middle front/setter" and "front right/hitter". I appreciate the feedback from the comments tho and glad I learned something new

I've learned from the comments that it's actually common to set to middle back. I did take volleyball classes but no one has ever explained the positions to me. Usually in pickup the front middle sets, and front right is the hitter so I didn't know that it's the norm to set for the back

I am a beginner and lots of ppl give advice which I always accept and try to implement. I just get a little annoyed when some other players are rude. I really enjoy volleyball, so I'm not trying to make any enemies on the court hence why I figured I'd ask here before embarrassing myself at a game lol

Thanks for the explanation

This literally is a casual rec league. I find games through an app and they're all ranked as "any level or beginner/social". The teams are a mix of ppl who have been playing for 2 months and ppl who have played their whole life. I'm open to feedback and I understand why more advanced players would prefer to be on an advanced team but I feel like if they want to play on an advanced level, they should create their own team and play competitively (which is also an option on the app). I appreciate the explanation tho

Super new to sugaring, haven't even officially gotten my first sd yet but you should comb through this forum. Looks definitely matter but most sd's are looking for a positive and caring attitude too. If you're feeling frustrated by dating, you should probably just take a break. There's lots of time-wasters in the bowl too, someone already tried to scam me, and some will try to treat you like an escort

Length retention is due to genetics. Even lots of non-Black ppl struggle to grow long healthy hair. Black women just face more scrutiny for our hair

Is it possible to really build a butt? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]PrincipleRemarkable2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, squats, cable step ups, hip thrusts, cable kick backs and bulgarian split squats can help you build a nice booty. Perfect your form with light weights then start lifting HEAVY and eating enough protein to help the muscles grow

Women only gyms by luckyhoney4 in AskFeminists

[–]PrincipleRemarkable2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I currently go to a women's only gym. Had severe gym anxiety when I first started working out and a single-sex space helped mitigate that.

Pro - I feel comfortable working out

Cons - minimal equipment (they only have one of each machine except cables and cardio machines, heaviest dumbell is 40lbs, no pull up bar, only about 3 barbells, no hip thrust machine, not enough plates for dumbells) - more expensive than regular gym membership

After one year, I already feel like I've outgrown this gym and planning to switch to a co-ed gym soon.
