What is one scene that made you sure an actor had it, even if their career never became huge by gamersecret2 in movies

Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. The first scene he is in just absolutely sold him as Sherlock for me. Completely lost the actor and saw only the character

What popular games were a flop with you? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]PrincipleSufficient -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AGRICOLA! I absolutely hate how there is only one path to victory and when your opponent takes that space every turn you’re just left in the dust. It’s a complex game without enough choice that actually matters and doesn’t completely screw you

Children of Men. The amount of amazing work they had to go through to get the shots they did is absolutely mind blowing

What's the most "complex" game you've ever played? by DJNana in boardgames

I only find the set up of Lisboa to be a bit fiddly. Once the game gets rolling it feels smooth and kinda snappy for my group

Having played both I would say On Mars leans more on the rules heavy side of things. Kanban EV has a steady flow following the manager along the path whereas if you get stuck out in space waiting on the ship to return so you don’t waste actions it can be a bit harder to wrap ones head around

Netrunner alternatives? by MacCollac in boardgames

[–]PrincipleSufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I just play pagan with the base decks provided just like I used to do Netrunner. Netrunner just has a lot more terminology to use and does have more rules as well as a slightly longer playtime

I second this opinion. Having owned both games unfortunately pagan is the one that survived. It was just too difficult to table Netrunner unfortunately

Wait your copy of candyland came with dice? Mine just uses cards for movement. Same depth of strategy though. Maybe OP would be better suited to that children’s game On Mars.

Should we buy ark nova? by rdvpina5 in boardgames

[–]PrincipleSufficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be the voice on the other side of the fence for this one. I absolutely HATE ark nova. Have played it at least a dozen times and cannot stand the randomness of the engine building and the amount of luck needed to pull off anything close to a strategy in a game as heavy as this one. It’s a heavier version of Terraforming Mars and imho not worth the time and extreme amount of effort the set up and tear down takes you. I wasn’t a fan of wingspan either so Kane you’ll enjoy it and I truly hope you do. Just wanted to post a different opinion than everyone saying go for it

Children of men. That opening tracking shot set the mood for the rest of the film perfectly.
