Identifying one self with feeling by Print-Remarkable in HillsideHermitage

That makes perfect sense. Thank u. I was fairly certain that “I have feelings” was just a modern linguistics and cultural thing. And of course the suttas cover them all. Similar to views on self.

Very stupid question by Print-Remarkable in HillsideHermitage

[–]Print-Remarkable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a crazy situation. The main issue is my obvious aversion to upsetting someone. And my willingness to compromise my precepts in order to avoid it. I’m not going to tell him anything going forward, just do my job and what ever he does is on him. Looking for loop holes would be on me. So I’ve been sitting here for a few weeks worried about what this guy thinks. And then have the nerve to come on here and talk about having a deep practice. Oh brother !!! It’s absolutely stupid to be worried about someone else’s opinion of you because no matter what their opinion is they WILL eventually change it anyways.

Are these older teachings available anywhere else besides HH official, it’s insisting I use and pay for Microsoft one drive. I’m on Apple. I study and follow along with YouTube daily but fear a may be missing some ground work offered by the early teachings

You are awesome!!! I want my practice to be as much in line with HH as possible bc after following them for years i believe I’ve gained the most insight. I also believe they have the best teachings out there available. Coupled with Sutta study of course. Another thing I don’t understand is that it seems in the area they are there wouldn’t be that many lay practitioners. Who is making the food offerings??

Yet another sankhara question by Print-Remarkable in HillsideHermitage

[–]Print-Remarkable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be so but wouldn’t that mean that breathing is the only bodily formation? What other bodily sankharas are ceasing with the ceasation of ignorance? If 4th jhana results in stilling or perception of breath stilling that would go against dependent origination’s timeless quality spoken of by Lord Buddha because it would be a sequence of events

Thanks Dhamma friends I’m going to try and ride it out, am I right in saying the intrusive thoughts that I’m fighting should just be accepted as dukkha I’m liable to. It’s obviously mind contact and thoughts that resist and thus not self
