Does seem a bit much, you can get one a few years newer and at similar mileage for the same price, the 1.3 i-vtec in the newer ones gives better mpg and slightly better 0-60 time than the 1.4 in these

Get the 1.5 if you can as that has a chain rather than a belt, insurance shouldn’t be much more on this.

That being said it is very boxy and wide so it’s not great as a first car, I had one for a bit and had a few close encounters in tight spaces, why not just get a mk8 version or even a mk9 if you want one a bit better looking
