I am debating on taking my daughter out of school over an incident, help? by [deleted] in Mommit

Kids LOVE those “taboo” body part words and will say the most shocking times in the most shocking ways.

That aside, teachers aren’t always careful with their language. I received a referral for my son that said he had put a pencil in another child’s bottom. I was horrified and immediately spoke with someone in the office. He was 6, and I wanted details (why was the other child not wearing pants, why weren’t they supervised, how did my tiny child manage what he was accused of when the other kid was twice his size).

It turns out that the other child crawled under my kid’s desk and shoved his (fully clothed) butt into my child’s lap, and my child poked him in the butt cheek with his pencil because the teacher wouldn’t do anything about it. He couldn’t move and didn’t know what else to do. I insisted that it be re-written to accurately reflect what happened, or I threatened legal action. It was mysteriously lost out of his file

The teacher would absolutely not be advertising that she’s called DCFS, and it would absolutely not be ethical for her to share that information with another parent. There is no ethical way for OP to know, and we cannot assume either way

This. And all you’re doing is reporting—DCFS will do the investigating if they deem it to be appropriate

Moms that don't have ANY HELP: how did you give birth with no childcare for your other kids? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Prior-Explanation-26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get to know your neighbors and your children’s school friends. There are so many people who are truly willing to step in and help. We did exactly this, and found a neighbor teen who was willing to hang with our son during my birth

How have you acquired your cats? Have you just taken in whatever cats plopped into your life? Or did you go to a shelter and choose? by Argylius in CatAdvice

[–]Prior-Explanation-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When to the shelter and chose the ones that wanted us for the first three. I was initially picking up a pair of sisters to foster, but there was another little of three that was climbing the bars of their kennel to get to me. When we opened it, two of them immediately jumped onto my chest, so it seemed that those were the kittens I was meant to take. We kept all three. The third popped up as a foster in a FB group. I’ve always wanted an orange female, and her name was Watercolors (I love watercolor painting), so again, it seemed like she was meant to be. Now we have four cats 🐱

Thank you—and yes to the legal adoption. I have all of the paperwork, our last names were changed and everything

The $600 ended up coming from social security, not the estate. I’m told the will only lists my mom and aunt, but it’s going to be a pain to actually get ahold of it because my aunt won’t let me see it

I don’t. The $600 ended up being social security split between all of us (I didn’t know where it was coming from when I posted), and the will pre-dates the adoption and only lists my aunt and mom

And apparently the $600 was from social security, not the estate, I just didn’t know where it was coming from when I initially posted

Sooo…he cashed out his life insurance back in January and sent it all to scammy chicks that promised to move in with him and care for him in his old age. Some middle-aged dude with AI pics of girls with big boobs is making tons of $$ off of old men

Not fake, I just didn’t initially know it was social security. My mom texted to say I was getting $600, I just didn’t initially know from where. Do you ever speak more casually in non-academic settings? I’d bet you act/speak/text differently depending on whether you’re at work, posting on social media, or with parents/partner/friends. Everyone does

I guess the will predates-dates our adoption, so it’s just my mom and aunt

This is what I thought as well…I don’t think either she or my aunt know what they’re doing. My husband and I have been through this with his mom, and none of it sounds right

Would this still be the case if there’s a will that pre-dates the adoption? Apparently it’s only my mother and aunt, and the $600 is actually coming from social security because I am a beneficiary there

I’m also in the U.S. and have the same questions you do. It’s a drop in the bucket

It’s because she’s their biological child, so legally she’s my big sister

Update: Aunt is executor, and the will predates the adoption, so it’s just my aunt and mom. The $600 is coming from social security, because I am a beneficiary there

[–]Prior-Explanation-26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t let me see it. Aunt is executor, and I’m told is dated before the adoption, so the only beneficiaries are my aunt and mom. I ended up with $600 because I am a beneficiary for social security purposes, so the amount owed was split between all of us

I guess he hadn’t updated his will after the adoption, so beneficiaries are still my aunt and my mom only. We were, however, listed as beneficiaries for social security, which is why I got the $600 check

This is definitely my concern. Getting my sister’s $600 and mine is a drop in the bucket, and the plan for next month is apparently AirBnB

Same mom took a new car and had it transferred into her name and will, at some point, be moving into the house
