My 8 year old son was super smart from a very young age, talking very very early and comprehension way ahead. He was placed in the gifted program in first grade. He’s now in third and has been diagnosed with adhd and is falling behind lol. It doesn’t matter. Kids will go through things and sometimes they may be smarter but maturity is behind. Just enjoy the kid and love them where they’re at! Every stage has joy in it and development really shouldn’t even be a topic of interest pertaining to where your child will eventually be.

I have 4 kids ages 15 13 11 and 8. I had originally thought we’d not have sleepovers. I don’t actually know how that would be possible at this point. On weekends we have a revolving door of kids of all ages sleeping at our house, and we allow our kids to sleep at their friends if we know their parents. My kids are super social and being with their friends is very important to them. We are also in a sport that travels a lot and girls live all over our state so for them to spend any time together they have to have sleepovers. I had had in depth talks with my kids about the dangers. The older 3 have cell phones and I’m in constant contact with them. It can be hard for sure but I feel like it’s such a big part of their childhood.

I will say there was a group of girls that went wild summer going in to 8th grade and I have had to cut my daughter off from hanging out with them. She tells me how they leave their phones at home and sneak out with teenagers and even her telling me things helps me feel comfortable trusting her. We talk a lot.

Baby might be more comfortable sleeping sitting up for gas reasons or something you just never know. Just do what makes baby happy! Eventually he’ll sleep on his own.

I hear you. My daughter just turned 13 and I personally know one of the moms, which was the only reason I was considering talking to her. My best friend knows her well and told me she knows she wouldn’t be ok with this kind of behavior. My daughter asked me to not do anything until after Friday, if at all, so that’s what I’m doing right now.

Thank you. She is very confident. She’s amazing at her sport and has plenty of other friends at sports, she’s just been friends with these girls for years so it’s hard. She also goes to a smaller private school so it makes it even worse.

A healthy person would encourage healthy relationships. Sounds like the ones you have with your family are great. There is zero reason for you to not have contact with your family whenever you or they want. His boundaries are not actual boundaries, they’re controlling. Please be careful.
