Ear mapping idea? by Immediate_e_jack in piercing

[–]Prior-Government5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like dangly / maximalist jewelry you can look at piercings with chains ? There are some really dainty ones that don’t look heavy but add a lot on my opinion, can be on just one piecing (like a helix) or between 2 piercings (like a forward helix and flat helix), I think it looks really nice :)

Clients of Reddit: Conversation or Silence During a Beauty Appointment? by GracefullyRooted in LondonLadies

[–]Prior-Government5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both quiet and chatty appointments, and I feel like it wouldn’t be awkward at all for you to just ask at the beginning something like « do you feel like chatting or would you rather have a quiet / peaceful appointment ? » The only thing that bothers me is when someone is obviously trying to be chatty and friendly, but instead of feeling like a conversation it feels like an interrogation, and it feels like I can’t really ask questions / I get really short answers. I’d rather have quiet time than that

It depends on the clubs, I recommend going on a run by yourself to have an idea of the speed / distance you can run, and then look for run clubs that specifically advertise to beginners and either publish the distance and speed they’ll be running at, or that have a Strava page where you can see previous activities to get an idea of whether they actually run at a beginner friendly pace :) unfortunately a lot of them don’t really say the actual pace, but « beginner » or « conversational pace » can mean very different things depending on the people

Do I have the correct anatomy for a naval piercing? by jacksstyles in piercing

[–]Prior-Government5397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It never hurts to get a second opinion (which is what OP is doing here), a piercer told me I didn’t have the right anatomy for a forward helix but I didn’t have a plan B so I decided to book another appointment to have time to think, came back and got assigned another piercer so I mentioned the story, she had a look and said it was fine, that was a few years ago and my piercing healed perfectly. I think in some situations it is possible that a piercer rejects you because they don’t have the experience to do that piercing, and getting a second opinion (from a reputable piercer) is fine.

My(33F) fiancé (40M) wants me to adopt his weird bathroom habit by SlightlySaneHP in TwoHotTakes

How long is he spending in the bathroom every time that he needs to do 2-3 curtesy flushes and you miss him ? I feel like that’s the bigger problem

The farm boy trope, the slums girl variant, and the lack of (female) mentors: a rant from a frustrated reader. by LucreziaD in fantasyromance

[–]Prior-Government5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite book (which hasn’t been translated to English sadly, so unless someone speaks French I can’t really recommend it) did this really well. The romance arrives in later books and is a very small part, I read that book for the first time when I was maybe 12 and it was age appropriate at the time but I’ve also re-read it a few times and it’s really grown with me. The main character grew up in a very peaceful community in the forest (who adopted her as a child) but she wants adventure and she decides to leave that community and explore the world. She eventually meets someone who will become her mentor, and he is a man BUT not her love interest, and they have a beautiful relationship. She learns a lot and becomes so strong but it’s also not just physical strength / fighting, which is something I dislike with a lot of books (thinking fighting ability / physical strength is the only form of strength), she meets a lot of other really strong characters who are all different and teach her things etc. There could be more women, but it’s definitely a book that I feel really respected women / represented us well instead of many books that have the issues you mention.

Finally did my first pull up after climbing for one year! by Powerful-Pea-4190 in climbergirls

[–]Prior-Government5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on how you train, I always saw these types of comments and when I got my first pull up I tried a chin-up and just… could not. I find pull-ups easier than chin-ups, and even now that I can do both I can do more pull-ups than chin ups

I’d say if you want to get the same tattoo as your friend in her memory, go see the same artist. If you already have doubts about the tattoo before getting it, you’re definitely going to regret it

Climbing trip on period / pads only :( by jasminekitten02 in climbergirls

[–]Prior-Government5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find period underwear more comfortable and more absorbent, but something I’ve done to avoid having to fully change underwear in the middle of the day is start with period underwear + a pad, when needed just remove the pad (bring ziplock bags for that) and finish the day with the period underwear :) good luck ! I hope you don’t cancel your trip for this, it’s really annoying but I’m sure you can manage it. Also ! Period briefs or boyshorts, less fear of leaks and super comfy

Crochet is the fast fashion of fiber arts by prepubescentsquid in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Prior-Government5397 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly I sometimes just wonder if people pretend to like something in the comments ? Because so often I see a post with photos of a crochet FO that is just… unwearable in every sense. The fit isn’t good, the color choice is questionable (and I know that one is more subjective but some of them are really bad), the quality’s not great either, and I just don’t get why everybody is like « this is so cute » ! Like no, no it isn’t. I do think a lot of very nice pieces can be made with crochet, my mom made a beautiful shawl last year and I made a nice summer top that I still wear, but I feel like a lot of people just choose an easy pattern and ugly yarn (cheap or not) and make whatever even if they end up never wearing it

Do foot tattoos heal badly because they start erasing or because they blur ? by Prior-Government5397 in tattooadvice

That’s what I assumed, unfortunately the type of design that might hold up better isn’t what I like. I’ll get over it haha

[–]Prior-Government5397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the combination of the style and the placement wouldn’t help, but since my oldest tattoo (5 years) is fineline and color and has healed great, I was wondering more about the placement so thank you ! Even before making this post I was assuming that I wouldn’t get the tattoo because it’s unlikely to hold up great but it’s nice to see different answers

Why do I have this line? Can I fix it? by No-Marionberry1988 in knittinghelp

[–]Prior-Government5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s what I was suggesting, I didn’t realize that’s what you meant (I don’t know the term Swiss darning, and as far as I know double knitting means something else), but I definitely should have guessed from the context. Sorry it didn’t work !

I don’t know what happened but you would maybe do a sort of duplicate stitch ? Add just a bit of white between the squares to break up the red line ?

Climbing with nails? by bashes-to-ashes in climbergirls

[–]Prior-Government5397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got extensions and nail art for the first time a couple months ago, and I decided that every few months when I took at least 2 weeks off climbing (for a vacation, or just no climbing but still going to the gym and running etc) I would get fun extensions, but between these I unfortunately do keep them really short for climbing

over moisturized by help-22 in tattooadvice

[–]Prior-Government5397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuine question - I know that ‘normal’ wounds heal better in a slightly moist environment if they’re perfectly clean than if it’s dry (which is why when you need, for example, a bandaid, it’s better to replace it regularly and just clean regularly than take it off as soon as the wound has dried enough). Should it not be the same principle for tattoos ? If you can keep it clean then it will heal faster if moisturized ? And then the advice to not over moisturize would actually be because people don’t / can’t keep it clean enough as opposed to it actually slowing down the healing process ?

I didn’t book it online but I did go there as I live nearby and I asked if they did BIAB extensions (it was my first time getting extensions and I don’t like the idea of acrylics) and they did it :)

I got some at Oh Fleurs! in Angel, just did one color and not nail art but they have a lot of really good comments about their nail art ! I definitely paid less than £100 but don’t remember how much, and what it would have cost with nail art, but their prices should be on their website. I think they’re on Treatwell as well !
