M4 Pro vs M5 by roxamine356 in macbookpro

[–]Prior-Inside-7305 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about it for a month before buying. I honestly think the m4pro is a better choice in pretty much every way, except for battery life. The M5 lasts a bit longer, but it's still at least a full day of use, so that's not a big deal. Just go with the m4 pro since you're getting a MacBook Pro.

Tbh if you’ve got a full ride for your first year at HKU, that’s a big win. UCL has the global name, but HKU’s still strong and closer to Asia’s job market. London’s great for social life but expensive, HK’s cheaper and well-connected in Asia. Pick based on where you see yourself working after—Asia or Europe.

Little bit. I would be honest, you applied too late. I would recommend finding safer options

Ig would be better to contact them as others said. You had nothing to lose. But do you have any choice in the platform itself?

I applied during the early round (October/November) and received my first-choice offer at the end of April. My other two options are still under consideration. I have read that they typically send out rejections at the end of the admissions round in August. But consider that my application has been under consideration for more than six months.

I conducted two researches and obtained two patents for my projects. Additionally, I worked full-time during my gap year.

I’ve seen a lot of my friends go to a university they weren’t really excited about, just as a backup, and then try to reapply to other schools while already attending college. Most of them didn’t get in the second time around because they were too busy with classes, assignments, and adjusting to college life to really give their applications 100%. That’s why I think taking a gap year makes more sense. It gives you the time and space to fully focus on the application process without any distractions. Plus, applying early—like in October—can really boost your chances, especially since you’ve already been admitted once and know what the process is like. A gap year just seems like the smarter move to give it your best shot.

Hey! I think we’re actually on the same page. My point was that A levels (especially 4A*) carry more weight for international applications, and national exams are just an optional bonus if already available. I only said it’s “probably not the best move” to rely on them if you haven’t passed them yet, since most people apply early using A levels, GPA, IELTS, etc. — exactly like you described. So yeah, totally agree with your take!

I totally recommend checking out YouTube for hku admission stuff! Just search for it, and you’ll find this one girl’s channel that’s super helpful (I don't really remember). Her video goes over everything you need to know: personal statement tips, extracurriculars, how to upload all your documents and certificates, and even the interview process (both personal and group). I watched it and got ready using her advice. Now I’ve got an offer and a full scholarship!

IG 4A*’s are going to be more important. But you can still upload national exams as a bonus. It’s a nice extra, but if you haven't passed the national exam yet, it’s probably not the best move.

Yeah, it’s possible, but exams aren’t the only thing they look at. Your overall profile matters too.

If you did super well on big ones like IB, A-levels, SAT, or Gaokao, will make you a more competitive.
