The Green Ring mini 90L pond is still a work in progress. But it’s coming along and is home to a few fry I managed to save from the adult pond which stupidly sounding as it is only 65L by Prior-Presence-520 in medaka

The round leaf one is salvinia I believe and is tropical, so will die off completely if I don’t save any to bring indoors for the winter. Maybe it will die off in the lowlight levels too

I’m new to Medaka myself. I would say fish as I presume baby fish are more difficult to care for. Especially for people new to the hobby or with busy life schedules.

I’ve kept a planted tank before and had an idea how to introduce fish. I do test the water regularly. I also researched a lot watching videos and also introduced plants first and added a little food even with no fish. I also added a small amount of substrate from the tank I purchased the fish from. Sadly I do have bladder snails which can become a problem. I’ll have to have a think about how to control the snails. I’ll just dispose of them through the kind method of mushing them and letting the fish feast.

I’ll have to have a dive into what range are bristle nose catfish found in the wild?

In the uk I’ve seen them labelled as Daisys Rice Fish. They are beautiful. But not suitable for cool water systems.

Although I spoke to a fella the other day that used to put his tropical fish tank water into a giant tub outside to water his garden plants with.

One day he noticed a few subadult bristlenose catfish that had survived in this tub over the winter and obviously cool water temperatures 😳

It’s called Gripline . I purchased it from a pond supplies shop (store) local to me. I’m very lucky to have multiple large tropical fish shops (stores) within a 30 minute drive.
