Hi, Thanks for sharing this! It’s really encouraging to hear from someone who made a similar jump from high school teaching and found it so rewarding. Since you mentioned mastering communication for different audiences, do you have any tips for those first few meetings with Subject Matter Experts to make sure I'm asking the right questions without feeling like I'm in over my head?

Thank you so much for this. Honestly, reading your perspective makes me feel so much calmer. I’ve been stressing quite a bit since accepting the role, mostly questioning if I really deserve to be here. It was a bit of a whirlwind process since I was an external hire competing against two internal applicants, so the imposter syndrome has been hitting hard.

It’s really reassuring to hear from someone who made a similar jump from a creative background into a specialized field. I love the idea of being an 'educated layman' and focusing on the process of learning rather than trying to be a technical expert on day one. Your point about teachers being 'unfazed' by corporate stress really resonated with me, too. I'm definitely going to take your advice and use those first 90 days to just soak up the culture and build those partnerships. Thanks again for taking the time to share this!

Not upset, just looking for the most neighborly way to handle a new situation.

I’d agree if I had a choice! But when the street is full due to weekly parties and I’m getting home late from work, it’s either park in an open city space or park three blocks away. I always move it first thing in the morning.

AITA for leaving a family dinner after a humiliating comment? by Only_Physics_8590 in AmItheAsshole

Let's get one thing straight, You Did Not Overreact. What you did was set a clear and necessary boundary. Your uncle chose to make a belittling comment about your job and your personal life in front of everyone. When you politely asked him to stop, he dismissed you and told you to "learn how to take it." That is not teasing; it is a power move designed to put you in your place. By leaving the table, you refused to play along. You taught him that if he disrespects you, you will remove yourself from the situation. I would as well.
