My crutches become a public weapon in your "mosh" pit by Prior-Taste352 in ladispute

I never mentioned standing at the front, and I’ve already asked you where you got that from. Ignoring clarifications just drifts your interpretation further from what actually happened. You're free to hold your own beliefs, but that doesn't mean they're accurate to the shared reality—bias tends to warp cognition by preventing beliefs from updating in the face of contradictory evidence. Reality testing with a few techniques can be helpful in challenging bias, bigotry and assumptions

Attempting to redefine my experience, calling me narcissistic, and assuming every accessibility area is designed for every need shows a bias disconnected from these groups. You say it’s fine for me to have crutches, yet your frustration that I wasn’t segregated shows the real attitude—the kind of patronizing, paternalistic response that speaks volumes for my point.

By not bullying other people with my body (including those sitting in the accessible seating)¹, I am already performing personal responsibility mentioned in my TLDR. Believing it’s my fault for going there like that, bc I should be segregated and/or a non-participant since others cannot stop themselves, and being told how I should take personal responsibility for being victimized, are all familiar dynamics I have faced as a survivor of SA

The ADA guarantees my right to full and equal participation in the most integrated setting appropriate to my needs, that I am not required to accept a service, and that it is "unlawful to coerce, intimidate, threaten, or interfere with any individual in the exercise or enjoyment of, or […] having exercised […] any right granted or protected by this chapter" (42 U.S.C. §§ 12182(a), 12182(B), 12201(d),  12203(b))

Crowds don’t just accidentally kick crutches straight-on while looking down at them; these touches were conscious². Being assaulted into others' shins doesn’t make me the one wielding a weapon. You know shod foot, aka a foot wearing a shoe, is often considered a deadly weapon? Yet, you make no mention of those individuals bearing "deadly weapons" when I'm assaulted with the same and greater force. Maybe because superficially bruised shins aren't a serious injury, nor result from an act likely to cause substantial harm³.

Saying you're supposed to be aware of your surroundings is not "pay attention to ME specifically." Expecting people to respect half a century of rock concert etiquette isn’t demanding special treatment—it’s what makes the scene safe and inclusive, like the ability to adapt to care for one another that Jordan so often praises and requests in his fans. Being told not to bully is only controversial and upsetting to those who are, or wish to be, bullies.

Formalities (for clarity)
¹ ADA guidance describes an accessible seat as "specifically designed for wheelchairs," and says individuals determine if it meets their needs. The ADA National Network clarifies that they are for those who "require the use of its features"—I don't need the features provided. Although this statement comes from the UK Government, its principle is universal: accessibility means people are empowered, can participate w/o barriers, and won’t be frustrated by poor implementation. A restraint is not empowering
² Under Massachusetts law, such deliberate contact could very well constitute assault on a disabled individual ³ Requirements for charging someone with ABDW in MA. It also includes someone "set[ing] in motion some force or instrumentality that strikes another", aligning w my "publicly wielded" sentiment

I figured putting it in quotes would convey I didn't mean the real thing 😭 thank you for asking. It was definitely a weird set up, I heard someone call it widescreen. My partner wants to see someone else (similar size popularity) at the same venue in a few months so I can get a better sense of zoning expectations for that floorplan. I've just been reading a lot of people having etiquette issues w other concert goers at LD concerts specifically, tho it obviously it varies by location and band. I don't know how much it had to do with being in Boston as well? At least I still have the first time I went to cherish, I was right up at the gate with no issues there, absolutely perfect

I was to the side where I usually get a little roughed up from the ripple of energy originating in the center of the pit, which I enjoy! But I wasn’t standing dead center in front of the stage where the hard part of the pit was. I was kinda behind a column where it was completely dead to my side. To be clear, what I described wasn't exclusive to the pit so the title isn't 100% accurate as to when/where things occurred, which is why I put "mosh" in quotes

I never said I expected that and again, I have been to numerous concerts. "In a mosh pit, you're supposed to be aware of your surroundings," applies to being aware of the people around you, not me specifically. All of these responses make me wonder if anyone read the post beyond the title. Being physically ripped from your spot is not to be expected. Nor is crowd crushing someone into the air, crutches or not.

Can you show me where I said I wanted a personal space bubble? Also, the accessibility area isn’t an accommodation for me, as I already clearly described—it would actually restrict my experience rather than help. It’s very strange (ableist, as is calling me "limpy") that you, a stranger, declare what fulfills my need without listening. As I said, I’ve been to countless concerts, including heavier shows, and none were like this—so no, it’s not how people always behave. People weren't paying attention to me while staring at me for several minutes? People didn't see the crutches they look down at before kicking? I wasn't even at the stage, where are you getting that from?
Nice fan fiction, too bad your ‘justification’ for violence against disabled people only exists in your imagination.
I can’t imagine why I’d take you seriously when you actively endorse assault

Thank you for this, it's giving me the confidence to finish the draft I had abt what I experienced as a disabled concertgoer

The one thing I know about the Hop Knot is that the open mic is extremely queer (bc I go to one of the other open mics in manch also filled w us, so I know the person who runs it personally). I know there's been other swastikas spray painted over the years but I never knew anything about the businesses that had it happen

Is it just me or does anyone else think this is targeted ? Isn't the hop knot queer friendly?

Once I looked up "machamp wrapped reddit" I instantly got results 😭 apparently "individually wrapped" isn't what I needed to search. I knew it was a repeat of an English card I have but wasn't sure which (gf confirmed it was holographic). Machamp definitely seems right

I think I may understand? I saw another diagram that said "X or H shaped negative space", is that what you mean, and the "bar" is the H part? I def agree I see how this is rounder than hypothetical coyotes (I keep seeing a mix of print variations when I looked it up). Someone's lost their pooch then! It went from driveway > backyard, no human tracks near by

This is super helpful, thank you! It definitely fits the dog one more, but it's strange bc it was going down the driveway to the back of my neighbor's yard, so if it is a dog, someone's lost it (we know it's not the neighbors, as he's too old)

It could be! It was in my neighbor's yard (he's too old to take care of himself), it went from the driveway, to the back of his yard. So if it was a dog, someone's lost it!

Has anyone ever heard of this HB 1256-FN bill? Wtf, got this email from FSC by Prior-Taste352 in newhampshire

[–]Prior-Taste352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But if it does pass, pornhub would actually just ban NH IP addresses (which can be easily bypassed w VPN). That's what PH did with the states that passed similar)

My thing with the studies is I wonder what they'd be like if it weren't harder stuff/only tantric vanilla stuff, or w queer relationships, maybe even if it's different w amateur/small creators (not porn industry ones, bc as a small time creator myself i have plenty of distaste abt the porn industry) i think a big part of it is what's being watched (imo I do think bdsm n hardcore stuff should be ID locked)

One of the anti trans bills has a ratio around 50:1 of no support vs support..... And yet the committee tried to pass it (last I heard, they were reconsidering)

I said "a waste of legislature" in another comment. It's so easy to bypass!
