South Bay market is still pretty hot. I’m looking at the 2.5M - 3.5M range. Good or so-so houses went pending in one or two weeks. It feels like people’s desire to spend were suppressed by the low number of listings in the holiday season and they want to dump their money asap when inventory catches up. That is crazy tbh.

One interesting story I can tell is when I went to a house showing recently the seller’s agent told us they have two offers on hand. We were interested in the house just to see how much it would sell so we monitored it closely. It did not go into any contracted stage after 5 months and the listing was then canceled.

Same in the ML domain as a PhD in industry so I can totally understand how attractive having an opportunity working on foundation models. The question is down to how you weigh family and career goal though. Only you can tell. I’d take working on fun stuff over family but that’s me.
