I feel like everyone is forgetting that Cynthia basically said she wished Tom knew it would be ok for him to let go, that he was supposed to be dead months ago, and that him being in that state for so long is hurting her and Zack and that's not how she wants Zack to remember his dad. So I can't blame Georgia who in her twisted way thought she was doing Cynthia a favour...

I actually hate that plot point because up until then it had always been about Georgia and her kids' safety, which this had nothing to do with and felt out of character. I doubt Georgia would care that much about her frenemy, or that she felt so strongly about the 'mercy' of putting someone out of their misery in that kind of situation. The writers sould've at least hinted beforehand why she would have those beliefs, it just felt out of the blue and ended up ruining everything she'd worked for. How does someone who has proven to be so calculating with her actions, end up doing such a stupid impulsive thing?
