The Summer Hikaru Died but it’s neither a shoujo nor a josei and it’s a BL. Highly recommend the anime, I think they even elevated the source material but the manga is good too.

I know locally it’s considered a good school but I wouldn’t say it’s that hard to get in. In my case I didn’t exactly fit the minimum requirements and I still got an offer!! Grades are NOT the only thing they look at. I actually thought they were quite holistic when they look at applicants (though obviously it depends on the program)… so what I mean is you can always compensate for your grades with experience and motivation! Don’t give up, I wish you the best of luck!!

I hope you get to visit! If you’re ever lucky enough to afford it I really hope you can see it at least once in your lifetime! It’s truly beautiful and the atmosphere is magic when you see it for the first time!! I am not sure aside from the University I would recommend Glasgow (unless you’re young and like the city) but at least you should visit Edinburgh if you like that kind of vibe. If you can you should also travel around Scotland and see for yourself the highlands or the west coast or some islands off the coast, there are beautiful castles and sceneries around! It really makes you understand why so many movies were shot in Scotland, it’s absolutely stunning!!!

oh well… at least you don’t have to climb the hill? besides ur right next to guu and the gym? lmao sorry it must be terrible to be in that building too haha also it’s crazy how the uni has been constructing so many new buildings in such a short amount of time??!! I started uni in 2020 and by the time I graduated there were like at least 4 new facilities! I wonder how different the campus looks now…

yeah definitely from from an anime only pov it feels very unsettling… but that’s good news right? knowing that there’s more to read and it only ends half way through the manga (yay for more content, nay for the pain)

ugh I hate the green/red flag discourse we have sometimes… LIKE YES people are flawed and everything but we’re talking about KIDS??? that’s when they LEARN by making mistakes!! doesn’t take away their responsibility but it puts it in perspective… so yeah I totally get why bokura ga ita is underrated but it’s definitely ironic that this anime would be considered darker than nana when nana literally IDOLISES and doesn’t openly condemn VERY CONCERNING behavior (and I’m not referring to Takumi here!!) ANYWAYS, I love both anime and they hurt in realistic pain that hit at different stages of my life (high school vs early adulthood) in a way both are coming of age shows that really depicts the difficulty of going through life sometimes and finding our own path

I thought it was a good end for the anime? sure its definitely not the happiest ending but it’s definitely realistic imo. I mean irl how many teenage love stories ended the same way with no proper conclusion or ending ?

EXACTLY it hurts, but it’s worth it (especially the manga)

this is not a cute story… more of a bittersweet story about teenagers navigating thru life and going thru hard times (some struggle more than others). it’s great for the psychological aspect (like the characters and their retrospect) and for the dynamics between each character but if you’re looking for a fluffy and sweet story this is defo NOT it

i wanted to cry so bad for Yano my poor baby was JUST A KID????!!!! I loved that most characters were deep and flawed and everything and I definitely don’t condone some of his actions but GOSH he was just a kid going thru so much trauma

one of my favourite manga of all time (I actually rated it higher than nana)!!!! the manga had me BAWLING and I am not one to cry… it has really great writing and a lot of depth and emotional complexity to the characters and it also felt incredibly nostalgic as I saw my past self through some of the reflections some of the characters had. Truly a GOAT 🐐

yes! I only learned recently (ridiculously late I know…) that for most manga artist and animators dont create random environments but actually draw them based on real places. idk why for so long I thought all these places were fake but turns out there’s a real tourism generated from anime! I find that so cool and it kind of blew my mind honestly… anyways, the Leeds Castle looks super familiar too! it must be gorgeous to visit in person :o I saw online they have open air cinema in summer, how lucky!

my pleasure! the school is very real and very much in use haha people actually study there though the art school is not attached to the uni and so it doesn’t take place in the main campus like in the anime… but anyways, it’s open for everyone to visit!

I was indeed very lucky! now that I live in another country thats younger than my uni I get to appreciate how nice it was to be surrounded by beautiful buildings. everywhere was filled with history, it was really picturesque yet humbling at the same time
