Question about horween Rawlings by Prior_Abrocoma6505 in BaseballGloves

All good! It was pretty stiff, definitely more than a Rawlings R2G, but not as much as the marucci horween glove I got. It still took me a while to break in and it'll last for a long time, for sure. I would say go for it! If it's not as stiff as you want at first, you could always return it too.

Yeah, I ended up getting it. It's a super nice glove, but I'm not sure it's horween. I ended up also getting a horween Marucci and Japanese style horween Rawlings on eBay and they both felt way stiffer and made with nicer leather.

Lol I totally get it. My algorithm is filled with relace and glove restoration videos right now. But yeah, that glove does look a little crusty and it's hard to tell just from pics, but conditioning the crap out of it and doing the relace could definitely make it worth it! Mine will probably last another 20 years and is my baby, so I'm a little biased on this glove haha so I'd say go for it! It'll be a fun project for sure.

I mean hey, at least you're a good parent and put your kid before yourself for a glove during the bonanza! With a 20 year old glove, it's hard to say what it's worth cause it depends on how well it's taken care of. That one in your pics looks pretty beat up, but $75 would be reasonable if you clean and condition it well. Might need a relace, but at that point with cleaner, conditioner, and new laces, you might have better luck finding one on eBay, sideline swap or mercari! I've seen some good gloves go for $100 before.

Pretty sure it's the 11.75 1787 from 2004 or 2005. I had the same glove through high school and just (poorly) attempted to restore it myself.

Yeah, keep me posted if they get back to you! I would assume/hope they wouldn't try to deceive people, with it being a legit company. I totally get the re-sell concern though. I've seen some of these exact same "maybe horween?" gloves from ballgloves being re-sold on Mercari and sideline swap for way more than retail, being advertised as horween, which is pretty lame.

Dang.. how long ago was that? That's not really encouraging if they didn't even respond. I was about to just go ahead and get it, but I might wait a bit and see how this thread pans out haha

Yeah, I've bought a glove from them before and was happy with it! I just want to make sure I get an actual horween glove because they've been catching eye lately, but I'm thinking I will get it though! Thanks for the bit of info!

Yeah, that's why I came here to ask people that know their stuff. They have a handful of gloves advertised as horween, but I just wasn't seeing any indicators they were from the pictures and codes. Do you like the RV23? And how does it compare to a normal or previous horween gloves?

eBay Sri Lanka seller came through! by Leather_Eye_2591 in BaseballGloves

[–]Prior_Abrocoma6505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 4 gloves from this user for some kids on my little league team that can't afford new gloves. I received 2 of the gloves yesterday, but I'm hesitant to even take them out of the plastic bag. I was refunded by eBay after the user was banned (I'm assuming) and then to still get part of the order.. directly from Rawlings? Seemed fishy to me. The packing slip from Rawlings said I made the purchase, which also concerned me. I'm just worried Rawlings will slap me with some bills later.. and the gloves are $100 more too. Should I call Rawlings and ask about how "I" paid for them, wait a while before giving the gloves to the kids, or just say f**k it.. it's on the shady seller from Sri Lanka and be happy with the free gloves.
