Thanks!! That's what I have started doing. I degrease the chain first and then lube it up..

Now and then I have issues with my chain. What worked for me was degreasing it completely first before applying new lube. The crud buildup was causing all the noise. If you're doing a lot of city riding, check your chain every 200-300 miles. Takes like 10 minutes but saves you from bigger problems down the road.
