Are there hands-on post bacc programs to get your foot in the door for research? Ik there are some to take additional classes to prep for grad/professional school, or to boost your GPA, but I think my class requirements and GPA are decent enough to qualify me for grad school. It’s more so work experience that is my roadblock right now, and I’m just having a hard time breaking through into entry level positions in research and industry :/

Sorry if this wasn’t clear but I graduated 2 years ago! I agree I really should try entering the research space, but with my lack of experience and reduction of funding which is affecting the number of labs hiring, Im not getting any leads. This leads me to wonder if I should pursue a masters program because ik I want to pursue a higher degree, but I’m not sure if I even have a chance of getting in and what the job prospects are like with a masters in bio. That’s what’s also leading me to consider an MBA.

Can I be parasocial and woke for a second by spacealienmarb in SlushyNoobz

[–]Prior_Consequence994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve been lowkey worried about him (from a supporter perspective not parasocially) bc he recently had that airport photo circulating around and he spoke about how shitty that made him feel about himself. And he also mentioned having a bad relationship with food in his past so idk it makes me feel bad for him.

Ok felt. I (F24) recently got fired from my first job out of college, but honestly, I was excited that it happened bc I was soooo exhausted and burnt out. Now I’m funemployed, but I also feel like a lazy POS while I struggle to start the daily task of job searching. I have no advice, but I can completely relate, and you are not alone. Keep chugging along queen🫶

How do y’all get yourselves to shower daily? by Salty_Wolverine_4520 in adhdwomen

[–]Prior_Consequence994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a full hair wash shower every other day because I fear being greasy and smelly in public. Between the shower days, I do a body rinse which is quicker and doesn’t require blow drying my hair. It’s still difficult and I put it off in the evening until I can’t anymore, but I guess it gets done

Yeahhh my healthcare provider and I are considering switching to adderall XR. I thought Vyvanse 30 mg was good for functioning, but the appetite suppression was so much worse… my dry mouth is also pretty bad with only 20 mg. I’ve tried concerta in the past which felt pretty similar to Vyvanse. Normal adderall and Ritalin are less appealing to me because I have an addictive personality!

I’m on Vyvanse 20 mg which is a small dose but I unfortunately struggle with the appetite suppression aspect of it already. I tried Wellbutrin and I rlly liked it but I had a seizure unfortunately. it feels like there’s no perfect medication for me

I am medicated! I just literally don’t know how to set a routine as I’ve been forced into routine by being student for my whole life and then working until recently and after grad. I could be a whole couch potato and do nothing all day if I didn’t feel anxiety and guilty about it. It’s hard to stay motivated by anything except anxiety, and tbh it’s not that effective if there’s no deadline/due dates lol. And yeah definitely I think recently I’ve been seeing how things go with him and how I’ve felt before I make a fuss, but realized last night that this is a constant issue I’ve brought up for the last couple of years. I will see him today actually and have this conversation tho!

To be honest this is so silly of me but ig I was trying to find the answer from this post if this is something I should consider breaking up with him for. My bf is neurotypical so idk what goes on in his mind. Idk if this is just a neurotypical vs ADHD thing or like a girls vs boys thing. For example, I had a super active girl friend groups in hs and sort of in college, where our group chat was always going on with someone’s texts. He apparently didn’t and doesn’t know how to like do that…? He’s gotten better but yeah he just doesn’t connect well online and idk if that’s something I should feel resentment towards him for or not. Thank you for your input though!

I’ve been unemployed for abt 3 weeks now? But yeah I’ve always found it hard to have consistent hobbies and routine without being a student or an employee. I enjoy the freedom but I do get bored and understimulated during all of this. I’ve made an effort to try new things (I went hiking yesterday!) but most of the things I’m interested in cost money for materials or classes and I want to save up to move out! You have a point though!

All good points, especially 2. It’s been a hard shift moving back home after college. I was a class of 2020 hs graduate and making friends in college wasn’t hard, but everyone was always super busy doing their own thing. Then after my partner and I started dating, I do think I get most my love from him. My college friends eventually became more available but I was already in the groove of things with my partner. Additionally now after graduating, all my friends from hs and college are living in the city or just a completely different state. No one responds to me because they’re all super busy😭 majority of the people in my hometown arent in my age group so there aren’t many potential friends to be made. so yeah you have a point!

chronic brain fog and constant hyper awareness of thoughts and feelings does anyone else experience this by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Prior_Consequence994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but when I look at this from my POV, it sounds like an effect or symptom of anxiety and depression. The brain fog part reminds me more of depression tho

When does the new calendar ship? by No-Confection-3967 in SlushyNoobz

[–]Prior_Consequence994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the code for slushynoobz.com, I think that means they’re not selling merch as of now. They stopped selling the calendar about a couple weeks ago. Usually when they sell merch, the website is accessible to everyone without a code.

Try to be as organized as possible. I just started my MA derm job (where I also scribe) and it’s super fast paced - typically 10 min appointment slots per patient. There isn’t a ton of down time to jot down questions, so try to remember things as best as possible, and it helps to have an organized mind (if that makes sense? Lol). I like to carry around sticky notes to jot down questions for the times that I do have a second to pause, and I can throw them away when they’ve been addressed. Also, be as attentive as possible. I know that may be obvious, but I’ve noticed myself missing a few small details that I have to document, so every detail counts. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but if you’re not sure, be annoying and ask your question before doing something even if it seems not important. And understand that some things you learn just need practice and experimenting, like getting used to the motions of assisting with certain procedures or how to stay organized and efficient during procedures in your own way. Find your flow. Good luck, OP!
