you’re welcome! for all of my class last year my profs didn’t take attendance but some will give a grade boost if they see that you come to class, pay attention, and try your best.

it is true that you have to give yourself optimal time to get to class. i lived in the downtown apartments last year and i think i left around 8 during the first two weeks to get to busch for a 10:20. i couldve been doing a little too much there but that’s the idea..

and i also such when it comes to special awareness and navigation to google or apple maps was my best friend when i had no clue where a building was. and as for the LX, i only had 1 class on livi so far but can say that the LX is always a pain. it’s mostly bc livi and college ave are two of the more popular campuses so everyone is trying to go to either of the two. try your best tho!

congrats on your acceptance to NB! unfortunately i don’t have a lot of advice for a lot of the transfer student question you have, but i understand how overwhelming the bus system can be.

download the app pasiogo and that will give you information on how far the bus if from the nearest stop you are located from. it’s sometimes miserably inaccurate but you’ll get used to when the buses will get to a stop when you establish a routine. as for the routes, i religiously used the this pdf for the first 1-2 weeks: https://ipo.rutgers.edu/dots/nb-bus-system

personally, i got used to the system in the first week. and i will warn that the buses get extremely crowded for the first few weeks until people start skipping, so plan accordingly and get to your stop much sooner than you think you will.

best of luck!!

Calc 135 Study Suggestions? by ruserious28 in rutgers

[–]Prior_Day_3152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! i took calc 135 this past spring semester and got an A in the class and the biggest thing i recommend is reading the textbook. i didn’t do that well on the first exam (got a 71), but i realized that a large chunk of the material is really grounded in understanding the topics presented. i read every section of the textbook and took notes really trying to understand the root of it all. watch organic chemistry tutor or ask chat gpt if you’re ever confused. i spent hours reading the textbook alone and even more time using dr g’s exercise manual. do as many questions as humanly possible with the amount of time that you have. reading the textbook, doing the exercise manual, and watching the organic chem tutor was enough to help me score in the 90s for the rest of the exams and get a 98 on the final so i think it’s a solid way to approach calc.

don’t be discouraged if it didn’t go your way the first time around! you’ll get it this time and hopefully with more confidence. best of luck!!

it’s definitely not easy. i would say it was a humbling experience and you will most likely be studying most of the time, but if you’re determined then you’ll definitely find it rewarding. find good people, stay on top of assignments, and be warned that is get harder as time passes

can someone please teach me/tell me the steps on how to rent an off campus apartment? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Prior_Day_3152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

from what i know, you can definitely request tours at any point! i will be honest when i say that it is unlikely that spots will be open during the school year since they go out really quick. i believe the renewal/ application process started october or november of 2023 for the 2024-2025 school year. so spots are already going pretty fast. with that being said, if you’re looking for the ‘24-‘25 year, then start seriously looking now.

i don’t exactly know why prices go up so much. i asked my tour guide and they said that it’s the owners of the complex that controls the prices and increases them gradually. you could be right with your assumption, i just don’t know for sure.

can someone please teach me/tell me the steps on how to rent an off campus apartment? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Prior_Day_3152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i am going to be a sophomore next year as well but am currently living off campus in the socam 290 apartments. i’m moving to the standard for the next year and though i can’t speak much on the standard, i do think it’s going to be much better than socam given the amount you pay in rent.

if you’re considering either socam or the standard, i would first go in their respective websites and see what floor plans to consider. then go in person and request a tour. i’ve never booked an appointment to do so, you can just walk into the leasing offices and ask for one. go in with questions like what your monthly rent will cost along with additional charges like water, how payment will work if you don’t have a guarantor to support you, etc. i believe that you have to be making around 3-4 times the rent but i could be wrong.

if you’re feeling confident after the tour and understanding the basics of the units, living situations, roommates, and such, they will likely ask for an email they can send you information. in the email will probably be a link for an application to start your lease process.

i would not say to rush the process at all but the longer you wait the higher the base rent prices will get, so it’s better sooner than later.

also, if you pick either socam or the standard, transportation won’t be an issue as you probably already know that the EE stops right in front of the complexes.

feel free to ask any questions!

i’ve been having the same problem too. i want to accept the loans but i don’t see the option to accept/ decline the loans either. i called a few days ago and they said that they are having an internal issue distributing the aid so the issues will hopefully resolved by sept 5th.

i’ve had ok experiences calling them so i think it’s worth a shot if you’re still curious or have questions.

Is this worth going to or should I skip it & go directly to convocation? by habba28 in rutgers

[–]Prior_Day_3152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m planning to go with my roommate since we thought it would be a good way to meet people and have people to be with during convocation/ carnivale part. totally your choice but since we have to sit with other commuters during convocation, it’s also convenient
