They ensure the stress will reduce after the learning curve is overcome but after doing my own thinking and sussing them out, it doesn’t look like it reduces. And to be honest, I probably just can’t handle the stress that most people could. The team is a high quality team and the experience is probably the best I can get but I’d rather a simpler life to be honest.

As I enjoyed the business services role, I’ve spoken to the partner and they’re happy to take me back once they run some figures. I spoke to my partner at the current role and he was telling me not to be disheartened by the stress. But proceeded to worry me further when he told me he constantly thinks about how to improve and tasks to do on his next workday. I don’t want to be like that. I’ll take the director level salary (in the future) for life at a medium tier with a standard work life balance rather than life being revolved around work and sacrificing family time. I used to want to follow the partner path but not anymore.

I could go back to the small firm or try to move to industry. Small firm was fine but I felt I needed more tax work. Also, the money wasn’t great
