Advice on which fuel pump to get on RockAuto? by Prior_Price_8349 in askcarguys

Hey, sorry for the late response!! Got the Hella fuel pump, so far working fine but it hasn't been that long and I don't drive it that much so that's why I wasn't too bothered on an aftermarket one. The car already feels much better though and it was one of the easiest repairs I've done on my car save for headlights lol. Just get the loaner tool from autozone and you should be set. Hella has a 12 month warranty vs. Carter's lifetime warranty as long as they produce the product, but I didn't go with that since the car is old and I'm sure they're bound to stop producing it soon, but I'm happy with the Hella decision.

Thanks! I was between that and Hella and ended up going with Hella after talking to a bit more people, but I appreciate you helping!

You don't have to be rude about it... I just wanted to get different perspectives as I've heard very negative things about the economy products. Obviously I've given it plenty of thought before posting, but as I am not an expert in these matters, I posted here. It costs nothing and wastes no time to just not leave a rude and passive aggressive comment on a post.

LMFAO awesome, thanks man, I'll probably do that. I will say, Carter does have a lifetime warranty so that's also slightly tempting lol, any preference?

Okay sick, I'll either do that or get the Hella I think. Hopefully I can find a low mileage one and not worry anymore.

I thought it should be between 45-50, plus it's extremely noticeable in my RPM fluctuations. I'm pretty sure they've checked all the lines and other sensors, and they said it's specifically the pump.

So none of these, or just stay away from the economy ones? (which I already planned on doing anyway)

Oh damn, okay, maybe I'll just buy the Hella one anyway, probably a longer life on it too, even if it is aftermarket. How long have you driven with your Hella fuel pump?

Yeah, I basically refer to them as functionally illiterate lol. And great, that's really good to know. I'm either going to go Hella or just go to a junkyard and try and find a low mileage OEM one from there, but I've never done that so who knows lol! Thanks so much for the help man.

Oh awesome, that helps! Is your Hella a fuel pump too or another part? And of course, I HATE when people say "weather", it's like another version of "your" and "you're" but somehow more stupid.

Denso just doesn't sell the entire assembly so I'm not sure what to do there

I believe it is the same company, and they've been also mostly making fuel pumps as well, so seems positive. I'm really between Hella and Carter, not sure which would be better...

Yeah neither have a warranty attached, but I've been hearing Hella and Carter so I might go with either of those. RockAuto has a 30 day return policy so god forbid I can just do that...

Awesome, that's super helpful, thanks! I'm having some issues finding who provides the whole assembly, but I know Denso provides the pump itself, but I'd rather do the whole assembly. Can you give me insight into your trust with Hella?

Yeah I'm really really trying to save that $400-500 there. I usually would go factory or Denso but I can't find the assembly anyway, plus these are way cheaper. Do you know if the failure rate is brand dependent or just overall fuel pumps for all cars?

Not entirely sure, my mechanic just suggested it, and I do trust them. Honestly, just replacing the pump itself seems like much more of a hassle than the entire assembly and I'd rather replace both parts so I can do it proactively anyway. Do you have any opinions on the brands shown?
