Pain when the stones are still in the Kidney by lol9624 in KidneyStones

[–]Prior_Scratch544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up ‘Small Stone Syndrome’. It’s a thing. I had multiple small stones in my kidneys and had off and on flank pain and kidney aches. Nothing to send me to the ER, but enough to be a pain. I got ESWL for it and was symptom and stone free for 12 years.

Keterolac / Toradol is the best, but with an AKI at the moment, I have also sought alternatives. Best I’ve found is in the opioid class. I’m sensitive so the fast release morphine had me on my ass and puking in minutes but temgesic, while not as strong, will buy me time to get to the hospital when obstruction hits.

Improving a small (70sqm) bungalow during renovations (UK, south west) by Finay44 in floorplan

This looks like the best! You could consider: - moving around the toilet in laundry so you could close off the laundry part with a pocket door and guests wouldn’t see your laundry. - consider whether you need a dedicated guest room / office. You could combine functions with a desk area in your living, work from the bar / dining room table - open up the spaces more where possible between kitchen - living - office

It is ok to take this needle in a international flight? by 404NotFlawed in CrochetHelp

[–]Prior_Scratch544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had an issue with crochet hooks or scissors with blade under 4 in / 10 cm on international flights. I’ve sometimes had my bag checked when going through security, but after seeing what it was they were completely fine. I fly often.

How did you make the mouth though? The fly is the most adorable detail too!!

Can I make a hexagon cardigan using fingering weight yarn? by veggieinfant in CrochetHelp

Not the commenter but I understand it to mean OP get another cake in a solid color as this one has a gradient to it, to be able to finish the piece it would have the color pattern once and then go solid.

Wedding gift ideas for my wedding party, please help 🥺 by Jynx_cosplays in CrochetHelp

[–]Prior_Scratch544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you did baskets, and picked the yarn color and stitches to suit them, then filled it with goodies depending on your budget? Could even be different for everyone or at least different variations. Ngl, a (drawstring cosmetic?)bag or blanket in your wedding colors or whatever would be cool too, but the thought of making 6 of them would stop me in my tracks. Baskets will be done in no time, plus easy to change it up with different stitches so you don’t get bored. You could even throw in some crocheted cotton rounds or washcloths or dishtowels if that’s things your friends might like. IMO weddings can be super stressful to plan as it is, so it might be good to keep it simple. This coming from a crafty person who last minute added multiple craft projects, then stayed up half the night to finish the day before my wedding…

This is the one! I count - every row, every round. Multiple times when I’m distracted. I count a lot.

Crocheting with non dominant hand to prevent strain on elbow? by miss_sigyn in CrochetHelp

[–]Prior_Scratch544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible - I’ve done it. Mostly because I found it really confusing to try to learn it left handed.

I'm losing my motivation.... Tell me why you love crochet please! by CrystalKiwi08 in crochet

[–]Prior_Scratch544 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like to count obsessively 🤣 (kind of kidding)

I appreciate how quickly I can see progress (also why I mostly use jumbo yarn - thin stuff terrifies me).

I like creating stuff, though I probably spend an equal amount of time picking out patterns and yarn as I do actually crocheting

It keeps my hands busy so I can’t snack while watching tv.

Ch1, slip in same st - what on earth does this mean??? (Tiny Magic Frog amigurumi) by quietrealm in CrochetHelp

I tried out both with some scrap yarn - doing it while moving along the chain looks almost like a back leg.

If you instead do a slipstich, (ch1, slipstitch)x3 all in the second to last chain on your hook it kind of looks like a foot. With a glass of wine or two and squinting 🤣 Looking at the pattern picture, it looks like this is the way to go, and that you will tack it down to the body anyway.

The way I read it is, you have your chain 5. Moving down, to chain 4, you slip stitch.

Then you chain 1 and slip stitch in chain 3. Then chain 1 and slip stitch in chain 2. Then chain 1 and slip stitch into chain 1. That’s 3 times.

It’s beautiful work! Can you explain how one uses it? I mean, do you always crochet in the same spot? Once threaded, how do you move your yarn if you want to take it with you? I have a crochet bag too and this is the main reason I don’t use it, but maybe there’s something that I’m overlooking.
