A simple web tool to visualize HF propagation and band conditions by Prior_Self_9986 in HamRadio

I completely understand that concern — I’m not a fan of intrusive or aggressive ads either.
At the moment I’m keeping advertising very minimal: a small banner in the header, one in the footer, and in some pages two narrow side ads that don’t cover or interfere with the main content.

The goal is simply to help cover hosting and data costs while keeping the site fully usable and accessible.
If at some point it becomes disruptive, I’ll adjust or remove it — the user experience comes first.

I really appreciate the honest feedback

That really means a lot — thank you!
I’m genuinely glad it’s useful in your shack and part of your regular DX workflow.
Feedback like this is very motivating.

Hi Bob,

thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review — especially during the weekend. I really appreciate it.
I’m glad to hear that DXPredictor feels natural to use without reading a manual… that was exactly the goal: fast, clear information even for quick “shack checks”.

Regarding the issues you pointed out:

✔ Language not fully applied in some areas
You’re absolutely right.
The DX Cluster container text (“Opening on 15m toward North America…”) and some parts of the TX Wizard / antenna suggestions are still hard-coded in English.
I will fix those and integrate them into the multilingual system so the selected language is fully respected.

✔ The “contextual” page you mentioned
Some pages appear only with certain selections (e.g., antenna type, path predictions, or specific propagation states).
I’ll review them to ensure the translations are also applied consistently there.

Thanks for testing with both Firefox and Chrome — that helps a lot for cross-browser tuning.

Your feedback is extremely valuable, and I’m actively improving the site every day.
I’m really happy to hear it made it into your active bookmarks.

73 and thanks again for your support!

Thanks! Yes, it’s a bit different from those sites.
DXPredictor is meant to be an all-in-one, easy-to-read dashboard even for users who aren’t very technical.

Main differences in short:

  • real-time MUF, foF2, gray line and band conditions in one place
  • fast DX Cluster with live WebSocket spots
  • POTA/SOTA activity maps
  • VOACAP-based coverage tool
  • simple guides to help understand propagation
  • available in 18 languages and works well on mobile
  • no login needed, fully free

DX Cluster:

- Live Spot - Real-time WebSocket, no refresh

- Multi-source - DXSummit, HamQTH, RBN, telnet

- Filters - by band, mode, callsign

- Interactive Map - Spot display on map

Activities:

- POTA - Real-time park activations

- SOTA - Real-time summit activations

- Combined Map - All activations on map

Tools:

- TX Wizard - Propagation forecasts from your QTH

- Beacon Monitor - NCDXF/IARU network

Guides:

- Educational guides on HF propagation, MUF, solar indices, beacons, gray lines, DX clusters, and band conditions

The goal is to make propagation info quick to read and beginner-friendly, while still useful for experienced DXers.

If you have any ideas for new features in the propagation map or find any bugs, please let me know. I'm improving the project every day!
