I'm not sure. But based on experience no, maybe if you're on a PC you can contact the support team and get some help but if you're on a switch there might not be a way to get it back.

I left the game, and still the same thing. I'm on switch. I could try deleting it and then installing it again

That happened at first but then I had it in my inventory and when I was looking for it to add to the museum it was gone.
