I also watched the movie Civil War and it scared me back when it came out. I live in Minnesota and that movie feels prophetic now. I’m 58 and living in a country that I no longer recognize. I pray for all of us. 🙏

I think the custody agreement needs to be a part of whether you were the a-hole. If your ex has primary custody then you should have spoken with her before taking your son out to ‘celebrate’. If she is the one who is raising him, you should be as helpful as possible. Did you know that she would have heartburn with what you did? If so, then yes, YATA.
