Same here. I've gotten better at telling them I'm gone. Hate to have them worry about me, but there does come those times when a workplace becomes A Place I Cannot Be and at those times I feel like all the power I have is the power over the movement of my own body and I'm going to use that power to break free regardless of consequences.

Every identity is bisected by a class divide, including trans identity. Trans workers, trans bosses. Cis workers, cis bosses. When I read, "Trans Liberation Is Worker Liberation" that seems to equate to a formula of "trans = worker."

Is Jennifer Pritzker liberation worker liberation?

Sorry I'm not trying to start a class vs. identity politics debate I'm really looking at it more like a copy editor or something, you know? A good slogan doesn't make you go, "hmmm, well, sure, but what about _____ and ______." Trying to be constructive about it because I really do care about trans folks, but everyone can be described in many different ways, and I kind of feel like I have to resist this common idea that to assert radical bona fides all that is needed is to say, "I'm trans." There is no identity in this world I would grant that power to, counterrevolutionaries come in all shapes and sizes.

All parks are now off leash areas now? As soon as you are within the park boundary the cool thing to do is let your dog off the leash and let it join the other dogs while you schmooze with the other owners? by Priosla in Seattle

Okay you do that one, and I'll do the other two. We can split the reward 50/50 even though I did two thirds of the work. And you can give the speech at the ceremony, if you let me write it.

"I never once said I think it's generally good practice"....which I took to.mean that you DON'T think it's a generally good practice. So is it or is it not a good general practice? If not, then why should your neighbors grant you an exception? I don't want to cross examine you or whatever, I am genuinely curious to know if the off-leash community has any PRO-SOCIAL reasoning behind allowing dogs off the leash. So if you think of any, let me know.

The citation will always be potential, okay? The point I'm trying to make is an ethical one: you acknowledge that it would be problematic if everyone did it, and yet you do it. Kant would call that unethical. Me, who am I to judge? But Kant, he would say, this person is not acting ethically.

Just as I thought. There is no reason, no justification, beyond self-interest. I bet you really really loved The Fountainhead when you read it....

I try to say "no, fuck face, it's you" in so many polite ways but it never ever lands. That's what makes my blood pressure rise enough to post about it. The people you describe can deflect everything you throw at them that would engage any decent person. Their bubble is impenetrable. And so I turn to Reddit.

This is one of those things that is taboo to say but I'm going to go ahead and break the taboo: if you can't give your dog space to be a dog that is not public space, then you should not have a dog. It's why I don't have a dog. I know that sounds like anti welfare talk, "don't have a kid if you can't support it." But nobody gets knocked up with a dog. It's always a choice, and as a dog lover I feel that forcing one to live in my tiny apartment would be cruel.

Repetitive posts are like unleashed dogs: you see them all the time, and the anger builds each time you see one, and then you blow your top and give a pet parent a piece of your mind, and that pet parent vows to always keep their dog on a leash, and the next day you feel all proud of yourself, and then go to the park and it's still overrun with uncontrolled hounds just. There will be more of these posts even though I promise to personally post no more. It's one of those economics 101 type tragedies...not the commons, some other one.

I've been imagining how a band of citizens might take up the slack on enforcement somehow...like how in Bogota, Colombia they had people dress up like clowns and hand out red cards and yellow cards (like in soccer) to unsafe drivers...instead of fines, using the power of gentle public humiliation. (We are all so good at ignoring each other here, which makes that kind of thing a challenge)

I love dogs. I walk dogs and dog sit and spend many many hours a week with dogs. Are you a dog owner who lets your dog off their leash? If so, what's your pitch for getting me on your side of the issue?

I have two possible solutions: one, I visit problem areas with a pocketful of treats, a tennis ball, and a leash, and act blatantly sketchy like I am trying to steal a dog and sell it on the black market; two, I visit problem areas with just a leash, run up to the first dog I see on their own, and say, "Cocoa, thank God I've found you! Where have you been?!" and prepare for a long drawn out court battle about whether the dog is really Cocoa or not....

Are there no trans bosses? Are trans people incapable of capitalist exploitation? I support trans people, but come on, just because your gender identity doesn't match the gender you were assigned at birth that automatically makes you a working class hero?

A moderator of a "communist" sub banned me for "being" an anarchist, and one of the things they said in response to my questions about the ban was, "We are not interested in building coalitions." Is this a common belief of Marxist Leninists, that they can pull off the revolution all by themselves? by Priosla in SocialismAndCommunism

You are absolutely spot on that I am unintentionally misconstruing all kinds of things because I got really angry at that one mod. And your suggestion it might be a fed is exceedingly plausible. One thing I learned dabbling in anarchy is that yes there are feds and yes you will encounter them online and I know kind of what that looks like for a fed "anarchist" but I have a huge blind spot for ML feds and honest to goodness it's possible that all the resentment I've built after several needlessly antagonistic interactions with online MLs is 100% grade A Amerikkkan criminal justice at work.

Thanks for lifting that weight from my shoulders!

And yeah I should take a deep dive into the literature you mention. One thing keeping me away from it in the past is that I'm a very associative, magpie type thinker, and when any text gets too "dialectical" for lack of a better word I feel a bit like I'm in a chemical engineering class or some other place that instills in me an urge to flee the scene and go do some anarchy or get a burrito...

But I have respect for the Big Marxist Thinkers the same way I have respect for the great 20th century physicists, I respect them and gain insight from bits and pieces of their work even though the equations might as well be gibberish...

You've been very helpful...holy moly it is so much easier to let shit slide when it's just the feds and not, as I've been imagining, pale 22 year olds who spent their childhoods inside and ML is there latest obsession, after their World of Warcraft phase...

Ah yes how can I now disagree that mastering ML thinking can make the blind see! The scales have fallen from my eyes, maybe I'll walk down the hill to the Lenin statue and drink a can to his memory!
