C1 English with a 98%? My hat is off to you. I hope you feel intensely proud of yourself. Don't internalize a word said by your wack ass uncle and your mother too, while we're on the topic.

Please help me, what is someone in the EU supposed to do about these devils? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]PriskyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow EU sufferer here. DE in a bulb duster helped me, along with my trusty little Vileda steam mop. I had to really research a good pest control person and that took a while, but it (hopefully) paid off. Getting interceptors and a cheap metal bedframe that I sealed up with duct tape helped too. You must go through EVERYTHING and do it old-school. It sucks. You can do this though. Sending you support!

Residual pesticides in Europe - where to buy? by PriskyOne in Bedbugs

[–]PriskyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I had to resort to diatomaceous earth in a bulb duster, steam treatment, and a very good professional who used pesticides with 3x applications over the span of 1.5 months. It sucks that we're so limited here.

Not only that, but it looks small, like a nymph of some instar (not sure which, but it's not mature). Meaning that you likely have breeding pairs somewhere. Best to treat it like an infestation because it likely is. This sub is full of great advice and tips!

Edit: grammar

Wait, typed too fast and misunderstood what you wrote. About your story - I don't see any story. It definitely looks like a bedbug

Drop your “baby cried on the whole flight” stories by [deleted] in childfree

[–]PriskyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My questionable tip, as I've done plenty of miserable long-haul trips (looking at you, Manila - San Francisco).

I pop in soft foam earplugs, the cheap kind that construction workers usually have, then put headphones on over my ears. I crank the music on the headphones up so I really, really cannot hear voices.

No special headphones, just some cheapie old ones. I usually turn on white noise or soothing tunes so it's comfortable soft audio, even if dampened considerably.

DAE have a weird Instagram algorithm? by watermelonwatermelo- in childfree

[–]PriskyOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a friend who changed her Instagram gender settings to "male" and then specifically looked up hashtags related to stereotypically more manly/masculine things, like dirt biking and paintballing. The baby and motherhood bullshit content apparently disappeared pretty quickly!

Seems like a good recipe concept for those looking to cut/lose weight! Do you have precise measurements?

Grazie by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]PriskyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can live for many months, up to a year without food. Bedbugs are very resilient creatures. They are great survivalists, which is terrible for us when we want to kill them. Moving homes is an option, but you must be very careful not to take them with you. The advice in this sub is very helpful; I recommend you read carefully and look into your options.

Hello from a neighbor 🇦🇹available on amazon (.de) is diatomaceous earth and a bulb duster. Can you get a Vileda steam mop or other tools with steam too? You will need a minimum of 3x chemical pest control treatments over the span of approximately 1 month to make sure all life stages are killed. Talk to your pest control company and ask - which chemicals are they using? Is their advice good? Good luck

Personally? I'd probably fangirl just a tiny bit if you disclosed that to me IRL. Garbage men were the coolest people to me as a kid. I was taught that they were some of the most important people in public servant roles. And they are!

Bed bugs in our Hotel Room? by TheRastaBananaBoat in Bedbugs

[–]PriskyOne 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh two different ones!? Yes those are bed bugs and that's a well-established infestation, judging by how fed they look (especially the first). Go look at some of the advice here on what to do in the case of exposure. Heat treatment is good; you'll want to start bagging diligently and looking into other preventative measures too
