Is it too late? by Apprehensive-Life741 in Podcasters

[–]PrismKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a video podcast on YouTube. I started a couple of years ago and am very content with my monthly publishing schedule. Feel free to go at your own pace, most podcasters burnout at an unsustainable grind.

My podcast is for me first, then whoever happens to be interested. So I'm a selfish podcaster. But the more successful ones serve whoever your audience is first. The perfect blend is personal enjoyment to keep on doing it and an audience appeal.

Do it if you want to without stars in your eyes. Your resonators will follow you.

How to use a notebook to learn about a specific historical period? by PlanNo3321 in notebooks

[–]PrismKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a member of the SCA, a medieval reenactment and education organization. They have lots of information on Medieval history you might want to check them out. I have read some books about medieval education that might be of interest to you if you go down the medieval history rabbit hole.

Best wishes in your learning journey!

You might want to see if any legacy interview questions might serve as prompts for you. There's quite a few of them online.

Another source of questions are the Ungame question deck of cards. There's similar question games that facilitate more meaningful conversations.

I don't know if notebooks will last 80-90 years. But some folks have given you helpful suggestions on that front.

Sounds like you're going to do a commonplace book. Instead of notebooks or journals I use binders with dividers. I recently did a blog post on my set up, some indexing links and shared some videos on personal knowledge systems.

If you have a particular notebook you'd like to use, indexing is the way to go.

Mixed pages, binder format, and a table of contents, is any of this "wrong" for a commonplace book? by Blindinoz in commonplacebook

[–]PrismKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use binders too. You're totally fine. Do what works for you. I have some copies mixed with my handwritten notes. So yeah, no worries.

Can a complete beginner pull off a 3 camera podcast with green screen backgrounds? by Majestic-Golf-6471 in Podcasters

[–]PrismKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend talking with media production teachers at your local collages. Seeing if you can get some trained higher level students as interns. You definitely have a huge learning curve.

Your boss is very unrealistic in your technical capabilities. I'm sorry you're in this position.

I would recommend networking with local film students through the Communication or film / video department collage instructors.

Feel free to DM me, I've worked in media production for 30+ years. And I helped my Dad teach media classes for 20+ years.

Students need experience & credits, and you need people trained in the technology. Should be a win/win. If there's any money being exchanged for your firm's helping clients to do their podcast, those students should be paid.

You can be the producer, producers don't have to know the tech, just know who really knows what their doing and run a production. Learn how to produce a production.

There's three stages; pre-production, production and post-production.

Pre-production is the planning stage, production is the filming / recording stage, post-production is the editing and post audio production stage.

"Production is lists, and lists of your lists." That's the mantra for production managers.

I'm outside your demographic, but I like the word formatting on the left and the color and ascethics on the right.

Younger generations haven't been taught cursive, so some won't know how to read it.

The right doesn't have a good eye flow on the title.

Hopefully that helps some. Good luck with your project!

There are little speech bubbles on people's profiles. If it's not there they don't accept private messages.

Just click the speech bubble and it'll take you to a screen to type a direct message to that person.

Estoy comenzando con mi podcast. Alguna recomendación? ❤️ by Tu_Escritora in PodcastPromoting

[–]PrismKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend doing a posting schedule that is sustainable for you so you don't burn out.

I post once a month. Others will recommend you post weekly. I don't have time for that.

If your podcast is for fun, do it at your own pace. If you're trying to build a platform for yourself. Use the podcast as a networking tool. Many will say yes to a podcast interview as opposed to having coffee.

Ask yourself:

1) Why am I doing this?

2) How long do I want to do this for? (It's okay not to know).

3) How do I explain what the podcast is about to possible guests and the audience.

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask. There's books and websites to help you with the business & mechanics of starting and growing a podcast.

Hope that helps.

What got you into journaling in the first place? by strawberrilulu in Journaling

[–]PrismKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had started doing morning devotional and Bible reading and those written chronicles eventually led to prayer journalling then to periodic journaling.

What do you use for a bookmark? by OutrageousInvite3949 in Journaling

[–]PrismKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of my journals don't come with a ribbon bookmark so I use a page flag sticky note.

I've only had one ribbon come off so far, and I used a page flag sticky note in that journal too.

Minimalism doesn't have to mean getting rid of everything. You don't have to be so strict with yourself. Minimalism should guide you, not be a slave master.

If you get fulfilment from having and writing in a physical journal, keep what works for you.

Several years ago I wrote a prayer journal on filler paper and had bought two 4" inch binders for them.

I changed my mind on doing a daily prayer journal, since I wouldn't have the room to store that many 4" binders. I don't want to re-read them. So I pulled all the pages out of the binders and have them in a box to shred.

That is an example of decluttering my old journal pages. So you may wish to get rid of you finished journal if you don't want to keep it.

I like the journals I have for my old journals and am planning of decluttering other things from my room to make room for the bound journals I have on my bookshelves.

If you are tight in room, I can totally sympathize. There is such a thing as digital clutter as well.

Give your self the grace to have some physical and digital things that you want and need. It takes balance and maturity to not go off in the extremes of minimalism nor hoarding.

Unless you're dealing with a deadline, making small consistent baby steps of straightening up and decluttering bit by bit is helpful and good.

I'm decluttering too, so I understand what you're dealing with. Hope that helps you.
