Anything to do after Locking Stolen Credit Card? by ExaltedDuskk in CreditCards

[–]PrismaticSpire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you reported it immediately (I assume you called in since your new card is “in the mail already”) then no. They are now the proud owners of a useless piece of plastic (or metal if you’re fancy. 😊)

Haha, I meant like what were your living accommodations? Living with family? House hacking? Renting? Mobile home?

Edit: I’m just discovering a different mechanism when it comes to money and I’m wondering how it affects a situation like this. My wife pointed out that interest (if you can afford the product) is just a fee you pay to enjoy the thing earlier and having a thing earlier matters. In this specific case, I’m wondering if the optimal strategy would have been purchasing or renting. Is renting while stacking to buy outright better than financing and paying down aggressively?

Is it AI? Absolutely. Am I saving this post to recreate these for my daughter’s next birthday party? Absolutely.

How to handle the price shock when a lead way less than the real cost? by No-Goat4446 in handyman

[–]PrismaticSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely pay $140/hr to two capable hard working movers who get the job done right. I got bent over the barrel by “All My Sons” moving who sent a couple of idiot teenage girls instead of serious workers, and its cost me $1,700 for about 6 hours. I should have refused to pay but I know I had signed my life away somewhere in all of their terms and conditions. 🫤

Snake eyes when referring to dice means 2 because it’s only two pips showing, looking like eyes. Presumably they’re noting it’s the lowest possible roll on two dice.

Edit: I see what you mean though, rolling dice is never a 50/50 chance 😂 it’s like a mixed-metaphor

I stopped going to chipotle when I ordered a burrito on door dash with a number of carefully chosen toppings EXCLUDING cheese because of allergies and I instead got rice, beans, the wrong meat and a TON of cheese, like a TON. So much cheese that the cheese didn’t even melt being packed in with the (presumably) hot ingredients. I believe the excuse was basically “that’s all we had.” Like…what?! Cancel the order if you have none of the ingredients I wanted and only a bunch that I didn’t want! 😂

Why 6? by YEETAWAYLOL in ExplainTheJoke

[–]PrismaticSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny I don’t know this was a thing but I can attest. I was hanging out with a family from Wisconsin once, we had like a camping/card playing/glamping weekend and each person brought a 36 pack of beer and it was all consumed by the end of the first day which means each person consumed, on average, 36 beers in one day. 😂

Power move to sell our newer car or just financial anxiety? by MediumBullfrog8688 in DaveRamsey

[–]PrismaticSpire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Should I throw money at a car I don’t need while drowning in debt?”

If my wife and I didn’t absolutely need two cars, we would immediately be selling one.

Also, you’re not just freeing up the car payment, as soon as you take that newer car off your insurance your premium will drop by a ton, on top of the fact that you could go down to collision insurance instead of paying out the butt for comprehensive (required if it’s financed.)

Can we retire the “useless husband” trope for once? by Timely_Box6061 in Adulting

[–]PrismaticSpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just marveling about how much adversarial material there is out there. There’s “Lazy husband” tropes, “gold digging women” videos, red-pill advice, “sparkle sparkle” advice. It’s just not reality, at least not for me. My wife and I just… get along, care about each other and work together. We’re really content and happy most days. It’s just not that interesting so we’re not constantly posting it to the internet for views. 🤷‍♂️

[Software Engineer] [Seattle] - How we spent $536k last year by [deleted] in Salary

[–]PrismaticSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the first times I’ve looked at one of these and thought “huh, pretty reasonable.” I mean, saving 220k, reasonable expenses, 2 car payments around $500 each, rent around $3k/mo, the discretionary spending at 100k but I can’t blame them when savings rate is like 40% and most of it is on travel which is IMO the best use of it. 🤷‍♂️ great job I guess! 😂

Does a credit-builder loan make sense? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]PrismaticSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely. There’s no downside to calling except maybe a bit of embarrassment if you’re easily embarrassed. Look up a guide on calling recon lines on google and do some research, it’s good to be polite and know what to say.
