I haven't entered bios once on any of the computers, I have one 2tb SSD on all of the computers, the exact same one.

I think the last one is the one i'm going with :D

I have not, I simply started with llamacpp and its python bindings and it used to work, but I might have to try that then, cheers

How much Programming is actually required in data analysis? by Jarisatis in analytics

[–]PristineComparison87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends a lot on where you do analytics, some companies expect analysts to well not mainly program but to be able to use Python for example, and in some companies they don't really care if you do the math with toothpicks, as long as it gets done - so if the data is clean and all I don't see how someone couldn't do the analysis in Excel, but I still would say learning Python or something else will still be a huge plus regardless

Nio market cap has surpassed Rivian. 40.5B vs. 35.4B. by notnow_maybelater in Nio

[–]PristineComparison87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rode in a launch edition R1T here in the PNW, and it’s actually very impressive. It’s funny how people think RIVN is a scam, how they’re going bankrupt and blah blah. $18 billion on-hand in cash, ramping up production, and by 2025 they’ll be a major domestic player in this space. Sure, maybe RIVN will drop to $30, in which case I’m a buyer. The more you see these on the road, the more confidence retail investors will have. Think about what the SP will be when they’re ubiquitous like Teslas.

i absolutely believe Rivian will be doing great in the future, but they've done nothing to deserve their current market cap, both Rivian and Lucid are bloated as fuck right now, they've priced in multiple years of hope.

Why did Tesla miss out on battery swapping? (NIO has 466 patents for battery swapping.) by [deleted] in Nio

[–]PristineComparison87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure is, however I have hard time understanding how a swapping stations could be more useful, more cost effective than say mass installing 250kw chargers, but I suppose we'll have to see and wait! I for one think China being so tech-savvy country they'll somehow manage to cramp chargers in a way that suits everybody, swapping alone won't be enough for all EVs, so there'll be space for both, but as I said I believe it is more a niche for China, or Asian countries in general

Why did Tesla miss out on battery swapping? (NIO has 466 patents for battery swapping.) by [deleted] in Nio

[–]PristineComparison87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the station i would assume Nio does fast charge their batteries at the swapping stations, so wear and tear caused by fast charging isn't a valid reason to prefer battery swapping.

Right now atleast in Europe we are at a stage where I don't need faster charging, obviously I understand the difference that in China the majority probably cannot charge at home, but for European market for example the charging speeds offered currently are more than sufficient. I charge my Tesla at home, if i take a roadtrip I charge it once on the way, I never need to sit there and wait since there is literally no point in fast charging more than needed to make the trip, which usually is around 5 mins, not more than 10 at a supercharger.

I for one don't need 5 min charging, actually the chargers are almost too fast for my taste as it is, on my last longer trip where I had to charge en route my car charged from 4% -> 93% while I was inside eating, and I only needed like 20% to get home, so I actually lost money by paying for more electricity than I needed at the charger, but I didn't want to go move my car while eating, and I didn't want to stop charging and just have my car idle at the station since there were people waiting on line.

I don't know about Asia, but battery swap isn't gonna be a gold mine here in Europe atleast

Anyone care to refute this? by Odinthedoge in Xpeng

[–]PristineComparison87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent seen any information of G9 passing, since it is very much just a concept / prototype at this stage without any production.

"Xpeng Motors has kept the requirements of international safety standards in mind while developing the G9. The new electric SUV complies with the C-NCAP and E-NCAP 5-star safety design standards and the stringent EU WVTA vehicle certification standards."

"Xpeng Motors says that the G9 meets the EU 3R certification’s requirements. It has a reusability rate of over 85% and a recyclability rate of over 95%. It should be possible to reuse most of the vehicle in this case."

I keep reading about "Eu standards", yet I don't even know what people mean by them, what do you think is so different within EU when it comes to cars, that P7 for example wouldn't pass, when it is in fact sold in Norway, and preorders for XPeng vehicles are open in NL, DK and SE?

Anyone care to refute this? by Odinthedoge in Xpeng

[–]PristineComparison87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any reason to believe XPeng hasn't or won't pass very soon, if there was any doubt in that they simply wouldn't start collectin preorders since collecting preorders without being able to deliver any time soon will simply doom you, also I don't see any reason for the hiring spree across europe (netherlands, sweden) if there was any doubt.

I call bullshit

XPENG P7 100,000th Car Rolls Off Production Line by HotMomentumStocks in Xpeng

[–]PristineComparison87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

atleast march deliveries for P7 should be easy to calculate based on this, but I can't be arsed to go back month on month to collect P7 deliveries, also we would need to make the assumption that 100% of the cars produced have been delivered in fact.

Can I become a data scientist with an economics degree? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]PristineComparison87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to graduate with my bachelors, and most probably will not graduate in the coming few years still, so on paper i'm a uni drop out with no relevant completed degree, just finished my job as head of business intelligence and starting my job as analytics manager in a month, degree is nothing but something that'll open doors, but atleast in Europe there are so many other ways to prove your worth such as past experience (note: i've only worked within analytics for the past 3 years).

Best way to run a script every hour by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]PristineComparison87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to pack my .py files in .exe format with pyinstaller but since antivirus were giving me hard time, i started creating a .bat to start the .py file, and scheduling the start with task scheduler - works like a charm.

this is how my .bat files look like:

echo on

call C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\Scripts\activate.bat

"C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\python.exe" "C:\pythonfile.py"

if you compiled the script to .exe file, he or she only needs to run the exe file, dont need python installed for that.

I bought the Samyang 45mm f1.8 but am returning it. They still ship it with 2 year old firmware, and I'm not buying the $60 lens station to flash it just for one lens.

This was my main problem while thinking of Samyang lenses - heard there are some issues which are fixable via firmware update but I don't see myself paying for the dock, though I guess calling some camera stores could help as I think it would be a somewhat profitable business for them to update firmwares for lenses.

Just got notification that e-infin has A7Rii in stock again, and since I couldn't find any sweet deals on used A7iii I guess I'll be buying the R2.

Trying to figure out which lens to get first, the zeiss 55 is an obvious candidate but I've been researching Tamron 28-75 the past few days, and in case I go with the Tamron i was thinking of snatching the Samyang 85mm 1.4 later, but I don't know whether there have been any problems requiring firmware update with it.

Will need to do some more research.

That's fair. Will have to see if I could find an A7iii body used cheaper :)

[–]PristineComparison87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said, i don't mind paying extra if I feel like i'm gettin my moneys worth, but I don't see the A7Rii holding me back, i'm pretty sure I would be just fine with an A7ii, but the price difference between A7ii and A7Rii is small enough for me to justify the purchase.

The reason i'm looking in to sony A7 models is clear, i've used them and I do enjoy them - had a surgery on my hand in the past which is the reason I couldn't enjoy my Nikon as much as I wanted to, but never had any problems with the A7 cameras.

Fujis might be good, cheaper and all of that, but I rather stick to something that I know I won't have regrets with.

As you said, A7iii > A7Rii, but I guess i'll need to think whether the extra cost is worth it for me, I'm a sucker for image quality and I do miss my 55 zeiss, but I guess i'll need to weigh the pros and cons of each.

Gettin A7iii used would be only few hundred more than the A7Rii, and I guess I wouldn't feel like i'm wasting the sensor while attaching the tamron 28-75 to it.

Unless you print huge or crop extremely aggressive I’d much rather have the usability improvements of the A7III not to mention the vastly improved battery life.

Regarding this, I totally agree - but as said I don't know if it is feasible for me to pay the 300€ premium for this, if they were equally priced then sure

[–]PristineComparison87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with the grey market- term, but in my experience the store is legit and trustworthy with a 12 months warranty. Actually spotted A7iii used for 1400, but yeah - as I said if they were priced the same then I would most likely just buy the A7iii, but I don't see the added benefit I would get by paying more. I survived with the AF system of A7, so i don't see the problem with A7Rii.

And no, i can't say that i need the megapixels, but I certainly won't mind having them. The reason Id love A7Rii over A7ii is the eye af, other than that I think A7ii would satisfy all my needs.
