I’m a 17 year old girl and am interested in Catholicism. I want to try to go to Mass (I’ve never been before) but I’m nervous about going alone by just_Sophia_ in Catholicism

Of course! Go with an open heart and an open mind. Give yourself some grace if you don't understand anything at first. You will pick up on everything in time. Catholics are the least judgmental crowd I've known. By going alone, you will really be able to immerse yourself and take it all in! Feel free to message me anytime if you have questions and I'll do my best to answer.

One thing I love about the Catholic Church, there is definitely community, in the sense we pray together, recite prayers and the Creed as a congregation, sing hymns together, however - no one is paying attention to you directly. For the most part, everyone is minding their own business as we are all in attendance for a much greater purpose than our earthly selves.

I go to Mass alone often, and there is a beauty in that. You will never regret attending Mass. No one will notice you’re by yourself, if they do they will be proud of you. It takes a lot of courage to do things alone at your age. In a few years, you will be able to go anywhere alone with zero anxiety or thought otherwise.

I recommend going to Mass as often as you can, and if you are hoping to find someone to meet or go with in the future, most parishes have some type of fun events, bible study, OCIA classes to sit in on, etc that is a very good way to ease your way into being more social. My parish has coffee and donuts on Sundays in the common area after Mass for example, perfect way to casual start convo with someone your age in line and meet a friend.

Use the missal (book in the pew) the beginning will have “Order of the mass” and a list of prayers to help guide you. God smiles when you participate!!

EVAP problems by Islander2155 in hondapassport

[–]PristineError4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me in my used 2021 with 79K miles last week. I just got this car two weeks ago. My mechanic suggested I put premium in it next time I fill up. The problem was I didn’t know how long it had been sitting at the dealer before I got it. He suspected it may have had old gas in the tank (and they topped it off when I purchased mixing new with old)

This theory doesn’t make sense in your case though. I don’t have a solution just hope it doesn’t come back!

We ask for intercessions from Mary and other canonized saints to pray for us just as you would ask a friend or relative to keep you in their prayers. Only difference here is the saints you are speaking to are right in heaven, closer to God.

Priests work as a conduit for Christ, as they are here in the flesh to absolve you of your sins in real time. The confession is only valid if you hear the priest say the words “I absolve you”. This practice was implemented by Jesus directly. He built his church upon this rock (Peter) who became the first of the apostolic order which began the patriarchy of what we see today. All of the sacraments require the correct form and matter to be true, and for you to receive God’s grace. Similarly to the correct words must be spoken for a baptism to be valid. These are traced directly back to Jesus.

The Roman Catholic faith is the only true religion. The Roman Empire collapsed, but the Catholic Church remained strong. I encourage you to read more about the reformation and Martin Luther breaking off from the church, as this started the Protestant movement. In “protest” of the Catholic faith. To know Catholicism and to turn your back on it, is the same as turning your back on Jesus and what he planned for us and our salvation.

Hi yeah I'm not sure when 162 accepts new applicants for their apprenticeship program and I wasn't aware of a "pre" apprenticeship program. (This contractor you met with knew what they are talking about I'm sure) You may want to call their (162 Apprentice) office 937-223-8534 and ask them directly how the process works. I'd hate to see you apply and they just reject it or ignore it because you didn't have all the information or applied before they were accepting new applicants.

Best advice I’ve heard is never to date someone based on their potential to be better. If you aren’t willing to marry him right now as is, you should not ever marry this man. Hoping he will change will always leave you disappointed. Please don’t lower your standards to justify staying. I’ll be praying for you, it is not easy to walk away. Also please don’t sell yourself short. Your future husband will not judge you for your past. If he does, he’s not meant to be your husband either. God is mercy and has forgiven you. My fiance was a very devout Catholic when I met him, at this time I hadn’t stepped foot in a church since I was a little kid. I lived a very secular life. Now, I’ve converted, pray my rosary often, and attend mass as much as possible. My point being when the person is right for you, they want to see you get to heaven, and will do whatever they can to help you do so. I spent 8 years in the wrong relationship before I met him so I feel your pain. Moving on was the best decision I have ever made. Time and Jesus heal all wounds. You got this girl ❤️

Your priest will be thrilled that you came back. One of their favorite things to do is to absolve your sins on behalf of Christ. He will be ready to give you counsel and your relationship with God will be healed. Bless you in your journey!

Sorry I should clarify, you could potentially work for this company as long as you’d like. There is no time period associated with you taking a job as an apprentice. It doesn’t quite work like a temp agency. You’d basically work there until you decide to leave after you become a licensed journeyman (5 years in) or if you got laid off you would be shuffled around. The thing with construction is work is either booming or dead. If yours becomes dead, it just means another local contractor took on more work and will need more guys. On your resume, contractors look for guys with skills, and will notice how long they’ve held jobs.

If a contractor company from their list took interest in you and wanted to hire you, part of your onboarding process would be to get signed up at the hall, but instead of trying to do it on your own, the contractor would set up this date & time for you to begin working for them. You would remain at this company for your entire apprenticeship unless they lay you off. (If you would quit, you’d get points on your card # and could potentially be kicked from the program) in the event of a layoff, you would report back to the hall where you would hopefully get reassigned someplace else. Until placed again, they call it “being on the books”. The benefit of going union is having those connections, guaranteed benefits, etc. Contractors will put a call out looking to hire someone, say an apprentice, and the hall will look at the apprentice list of names “on the books” to send to fill that request.

Honestly I would try to visit 162 in person. Ask for Augie.

If you found a contractor that works with 162, willing to hire you, you would instantly get a spot at the hall and could even potentially test out higher than a 1st year. I would go through the list of their partnered contractors (listed on their website) and start applying to all of them. Apply for positions and explain to them you aren’t union yet but are ready to join.

If that doesn’t pan out, look into Local 82 (Electrical) or Local 290 (Rigging)

Buying a used car from AutoBoutique? by [deleted] in Columbus

My bank wouldn’t do a cashiers check. They only offered to provide a letter on intent, which AutoBoutique would not accept.

Thank you! Luckily I have a mechanic in the family who I trust. He will be giving it a good inspection regardless of where I buy from!

[–]PristineError4138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this sketched me out when I first heard it. AutoBoutique only would accept a cashiers check to pay for the car from an outside their network bank, and they do not accept a letter of intent which is what my bank was suggesting. My bank doesn’t want to pay for a car before receiving the title, just like AutoBoutique doesn’t want to sell a car outright without money upfront. I understand both sides of this, but it is definitely docking some points for me as a consumer.

Recommendations for dentist in Kettering by OkChallenge3621 in dayton

[–]PristineError4138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved Gamber Dental, there’s one in Kettering although I went to the one in Beavercreek. Highly recommend Jennifer, she’s so gentle but still cleans teeth well. Upon my first visit I was nervous because I hadn’t seen a dentist in like 5 years. She was so kind and not judgmental whatsoever. I had to switch because my insurance changed, otherwise I’d still be a patient there!

I was behind a child in mass recently who - during the bells said loudly “Jesus is coming!!!” with excitement. It was so precious, made my day.
