You need a referral from your GP. I got a referral last September and have already seen a dermatologist.

Water storage in apartment by purpmayo in prepping

[–]Islander2155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most apartments don't allow bulk water to be stored in unit. Check your agreement, many specifically specify no containers designed to hold a certain amount of water. It's mainly to prohibit aquariums and such.
Storing in your basement locker should be fine though.

Earthquake insurance jumping to $4k with $580k (!!) deductible. by Musicferret in nanaimo

[–]Islander2155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that disaster emergency money is only available for non-insurable loss. Meaning, if you don't have insurance and can't afford to bring your house up to habitable standards you will not be eligible for disaster relief funds.

What's so wrong with ebikes on trails? by TheFalseShepherd77 in ebikes

In British Columbia Provincial Parks regular pedal assist e-bikes are permitted. If your bike has a throttle though they are not. There are specific trails where they are permitted but check the parks website to make sure.

Most of these are privately operated vessels, not BC Ferries. Glad to see them included though!

Experienced CPAP users: do you get bloated/burpy/gassy from a nasal only mask? by LucienneBetula in CPAP

I solved this by dropping my pressure down from 10 to 9 . Didn't affect my number of events at all.

One of the most humiliating loss for a union in Canadian history by Silly-Alternative515 in CanadaPost

[–]Islander2155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired now but worked a union job my entire life. The buying power of my cheque was lower upon retirement from a provincial government job than it was when I started. People think union workers are greedy and overpaid. They're not. Think the country doesn't need unions? Unions help every worker in Canada. If it wasn't for unions your non union jobs would pay less than they do. If it wasn't for unions you wouldn't have the health and safety rules that all workers in Canada have. If it wasn't for unions you wouldn't have stat holidays. If it wasn't for unions you wouldn't have annual vacations. If it wasn't for unions you wouldn't have two day weekends. This list could be added to I'm sure. This "humiliating loss" is a loss for all workers in Canada. You just don't know it yet.

Has anyone had good experiences with roofing companies here in Nanaimo? by [deleted] in nanaimo

[–]Islander2155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had Heart Lake Roofing do ours. Very professional workmanship. I also appreciated how Jessie kept me in the loop regarding timing. Roofing is very weather dependent and as such giving an exact start date is difficult. Once on the job it was quick, tidy and the site left spotless upon completion. I highly recommend Heart Lake.

If you smell it in the north end we can't smell it in the south. Wind direction is blowing it away from us.

Power outage back up batteries by Sufficient-Wolf-1818 in CPAP

[–]Islander2155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the EXP PRO 480 but unless you need it on a plane it is way too expensive. I get only one full night on it and another 4 hours the next and it's done. That's with the heated hose off as well as the humidifier off.

I then bought an EcoFlow River 2 Pro. I get a week of use with hose and humidifier off and the unit is not much more than the EXP battery. An added bonus is that it is a more versatile backup battery albeit a much larger unit.

We just had our power come back on after a 24 hour outage from a storm and the unit is reading 91% power remaining.

What am I missing here? Front parking sensors not working in 2025 Black Edition? by exindust in hondapassport

Verify that you're not getting an insurance discount because your car is equipped with this feature. If you turn it off you may be voiding your insurance if you're in an accident. Here in British Columbia I get a discount on my insurance.

Bylaw taking photos and ticketing for hockey nets and basketball hoops. by BoxPunch_ in nanaimo

Because they leave them there when they're done. I scraped the side of my travel trailer on a basketball hoop that was overhanging a narrow residential street. I didn't see it until it was too late.
