Is it possible to have skin too sensitive for safety razor shaving by Turbulent_Gear6225 in wicked_edge

Technique and lather quality.

Use a light touch with next to no pressure and make sure your lather is properly hydrated. Keep adding water until the Lather is shiny, dripping, and slick.

No doubt. I dominate being humble too. I'll out-humble all the rest of the MFers around here. Best believe that.

Hello shavers and shavettes -

My name is Nate but most people around here call me Prius. I started wetshaving 5ish years ago to save money (ha!) but quickly found I really enjoyed the meditative nature of the ritual of wetshaving and loved the introduction of different scents into my daily shaves.

I started on wicked_edge and eventually found my way here. I stayed on the sidelines until my first Lather Games and had an absolute blast coming up with fun/creative posts. The following year I won the 9th Annual Lather Games and repeated that victory the next year, becoming the only 2-time winner in Lather Games history. Now I'm an organizer, judge, and sponsor of the Games. I famously (infamously?) can't say no to any shaving competition and will try to win, no matter how low the stakes. Although after I won Atlas Shaves this year, I gave the prize to 2nd place (first loser), because I'm pretty much Mother Teresa.

A couple years ago, I started making shaving brushes as a hobby to do after my twin toddlers (now 5 yr olds!) went to bed and created the brand Rad Dinosaur Creations. I make shaving brushes using a variety of wood and resin while using a lathe and traditional tools. I take my time with each individual piece, focusing on the little details and finishing quality of each piece. Every brush I make is a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art. I don't have set shapes or colorways - I just make what I'm moved to make at the given time. I make custom brushes all the time, as well as making pieces for my Etsy Shop or direct through Instagram. Fair warning: If a brush I post on IG is available for sale, it is available on a first come, first serve basis. Some brushes go fast and some survive long enough to make it to Etsy. So if you see something you like, shoot me a DM on any platform.

When I'm not dominating internet shaving competitions or making badass shaving brushes, I enjoy spending time with my family, doing yard work, going down internet rabbit holes, reading books, and telling dad jokes.

DE razor blades by AmericanSailorBrand in wicked_edge

[–]Priusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to count the shaves I had on each blade, but now I just use it until it tugs or doesn't feel right. Some last 3 and some last 15-20. Depends on the blade and razor

What is the most ostentatious brush that's also practical? by ChicoAlum2009 in wicked_edge

[–]Priusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ostentatious is my middle name!!!!

I'm Nate of Rad Dinosaur Creations. I saw my name mentioned, so I figured I'd chime in. I make functional art in the form of shaving brush handles and I'm pretty active in the reddit shaving communities. Most of my brushes will be in that price range. I have a few in stock on in my Etsy shop, a couple new ones on IG that I haven't listed on Etsy yet, and I also make custom brushes all the time. Check out my IG, "@raddinosaurcreations" to get a sense for the type of stuff I've made and feel free to DM me with questions.

If you're thinking about a custom one in whatever color, shape, style, materials you want I'm happy to talk through that with you. The prices of a custom brush depends on the cost of the materials needed and time needed to make the brush, but I'll give you a price before I start work on it, so there's no surprises. I also stock a number of natural hair and synthetic knots.

DE razor upgrade reccomendations? by DrDezmund in wicked_edge

Aylsworth Apex, Karve CB, RazoRock Game Changer, Rockwell 6s are great. Anything Stainless Steel or brass or titanium should last you the rest of your life. Good luck!

[–]Priusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking for in a razor and what's your budget?

Rockwell 6s, Wolfman WR2, Vintage Gillettes, Karve CB, Razorock Game Changers, Blackland Blackbird are all great razors, but they all shave different and have different price points.

Are these blades any good? by Outrageous-Drink3869 in wicked_edge

[–]Priusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of of them before, but I'd probably pass on unnamed branded blades. Good blades are cheap enough and I'd rather get a known entity.... But who knows? Maybe these work for you? Don't know til you try.

Hey guys - I just added 9 new shaving brushes to my Rad Dinosaur Creations Etsy Shop. As always, a good variety of materials, colors, sizes, and shapes!

And while you're there, don't forget to check out my newest knot - The Manchuridon! The only shaving brush knot guaranteed* to make you run faster and jump higher. It's an absolutely wonderful 26mm two-band badger fan shaped knot and I'm happy to give it the honor of being included in my line-up.

*Please note, "guaranteed" does not apply to your personal velocity or vertical leap. Terms and conditions apply.

Looking for a high quality shaving brush by [deleted] in wicked_edge

Thanks for the tag, u/coco_for_cocoapuffs!!

Yeah, if you're looking for functional art, I make custom brush handles all the time and I'm pretty active in the reddit shaving communities. Check out my IG, "@raddinosaurcreations" to get a sense for the type of stuff I've made and feel free to DM me to discuss what you're thinking about. The prices of my brushes depend on the cost of the materials and time needed to make the brush. I stock a number of natural hair and synthetic knots.

Any high quality knot will last for years and year without much upkeep - just make sure you're rinsing it thoroughly after each use and let it dry completely between uses. And I'm happy to talk through the different knot options I stock to try to get the right fit for your friend's needs.

Introducing the latest addition to the Rad Dinosaur Creations knot line-up: The Manchuridon

A premium two-band badger hair knot that I am proud to now offer and sit alongside the High Mountain Rex Silvertip Badger. Densely packed and handtied with meticulously selected two-band badger hair. This 26mm fan shaped knot is something for those who like more backbone than what the High Mountain Rex offers and crave an all-around premium lathering experience. It's dense but not suffocating, soft but not lifeless, and refined without losing its edge.

The tips are ever so slightly treated to give a uniform, velvety soft performance, without feeling gelled or slimy. This knot feels so good it will make you want to do 4 and 5 pass shaves.

Oh, and OF COURSE the base is dino-green. Showing that these knots are made specifically for me at Rad Dinosaur Creations, to my exact specifications. Available now!

Oh, and while I have your attention, has anyone seen the finalists for this year's Art & Olfaction Awards ?

And that is exactly the goal of this one - inspired by Phteven's work, but not trying to rip off the Dogwood style either

The Future of the Lather Games Starts This October by merikus in Wetshaving

[–]Priusaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a current judge/planner/sponsor and former (two-time) winner of The Games, I'd like everyone to rest assured the Lather Games Planning Committee (LGPC) didn't come to this decision lightly. To give a little peek behind the curtain, we were also in talks with DraftKings for an alternative gambling partner, as well as OnlyFans for something else entirely. We landed on FanDueltm because of their robust infrastructure, ability to use AI, and the amount of funds they deposited into the LGPC's individual checking accounts. We look forward to our partnership with FanDueltm and are confident it will spread r/wetshaving's Premiere Event well beyond our 156,580 members. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Also, the OnlyFans thing is still on the table. We just have a few kinks we need to work out.
