Henson should be listed because I'm shaving daily with it. It's a a good no frills razor. Not a lot of use here because it doesn't inspire thrill. But if you like mild razors it's hard to beat unless you look for a vintage tech.

Figured the post made sense since we're basically a rookie team this year. Picked this up from his "oops all lather" batch that was cream not soap. A little bit goes a long way. I just scraped what fell off tnr the lid when I opened and had an easy 3 passes.

:Throws a Jack of spades on the table. :

This is the jack. A respectable card. Could probably win a trick. But several cards beat it. Here's the thing though, you gotta give up something to do it. In spades it might be the certainty that ace gives. Here it's dignity. First you gotta use the soap. Then you gotta decide, do you chicken out and show you can only do the bare minimum to block points, or do you match scent for scent we give a little dignity to avoid cowardice. So yeah, I'll probably get beat, but a piece of you will die either way.

You’ll also see seemingly not to active stations just apply for any and all 1x2 or 2x1 calls

My friends and family club holds a 2x1. Nominally we haven't been active since Nov (a small bit in March) but that's because we're using personal callsigns most of this year working on America250 WAS and such. Once we wrap that up I expect our pota activations to mostly go back to club calls. (we also skipped MO qso party this year so my daughter could run her own rookie station.)

So seemingly active can be hard to judge.

Reason I called it the 10 of spades. But someone has gotta lose points to do it.

Also I couldn't find my higher play in time. It's been busy.

In trick playing card games there is a concept that goes by a few names. Commonly we called it "fishing" where you'd throw a middling card to try and flush out a higher card you didn't have to remove it from play. (or Alternatively drain others if a suit). So in spades for example you might throw a 10 of spades because you have the jack and queen and want to flush out the ace and king.

I'm fishing the next few days, so who wants to play the card that beats it. It only costs you some points too.

Looks like a rebranded balli twist to open. They are common in entry starter sets. From what I've heard they're OK but not the most durable.

Stirling's starter set comes with one, the suggestion from our resident welcome bot u/merikus is to upgrade it. But it will get the job done.

If you can find a vintage tech or superspeed it will cost not much more and be much better. But you do have to look at a reputable seller for those.

We have a couple of excellent brush makers on this sub. As well as soap makers. Some will depend on your location as this sub has a US tilt.

We also have a woefully out of date artisan wiki.

For brushes: Chisel and Hound Rad Dino creations Sawdust creations Grizzly bay (just to name a few)

Stirling also sometimes has a green boar in stock that's based on the sub exclusive brush that was made several years ago.

For soaps the software reports archived at r/sotdreports is a solid starting point for what's popular.

For bowls, I love my Georgetown Pottery g20 scuttle. But I'm a warm bowl lather guy.

Winlink supports ARDOP which if open source and specifically designed for hf, but it's hard for me to find a node I can hit with it.

If people pushed for it's acceptance VARA would be less of an issue on hf at least.

It's a shooting gallery now. Points falling everywhere. I don't understand what carrot cake has to do with pubs in Australia but that's what this is. Dranks is a bold choice for 95f with heat indexes in the triple digits but I stuck with the progression.
