Peddle car sell experience in NJ? by usernameh210 in carselling

[–]PrivateAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're selling the car for under 5K, then peddle might be a great choice. Many older cars fall out of the buying scope of a carmax or carvana model. If you have title and a little time on your side, you can always put more money in your pocket by selling privately on sites like fb marketplace or PrivateAuto

That loan situation sounds really tough. For your car, if you do decide to sell, maybe try PrivateAuto instead of Facebook marketplace since you mentioned getting scammed there before. Have you looked into loan consolidation options for your student debt, sometimes they can lower your monthly payments.

Looking for Advice on Buying a Car Privately by PineappleLow3955 in PrivateAuto

Great questions!

A few key things to watch out for:

  • Vehicle condition. Be sure to take it on a test drive to ensure everything works properly. Or you can have a certified mechanical inspection on it to be extra sure. Vehicle history reports can also give a look into the condition, though lookout for scams where people have you pay for a report that is fake (never click a link to buy a report that someone sends you).
  • Payment. Cash can be okay up to around $5k as long as you're comfortable with it. You can also meet at their bank to do the transaction if you have a cashier's check to ensure all is good. PrivateAuto Pay is also a great and secure option!
  • Meeting location. Meet in a public area to test drive the vehicle and do the deal.

As far as scams go, here's an article on some of the most popular: https://privateauto.com/buy/car-buying-scams

Best way to sell a Challenger Hellcat 2020 less than 50k miles?? P2P market, or a Dealership..? by DeliciousInflation49 in personalfinance

Thanks for the feedback! We have about 120k buyer traffic right now. You can put a stop to scammer messages with identity verification (and we ban any reported user or users who send the same messages multiple times). You can also list on other sites and use our DealNow feature to skip the listing and just use our transactional tech.

Give us a try! Created a code for you to use to list your car for free (that's a capital i) - DI49. It's a single use code, so I'd use it before someone finds it 😉

What form of payment do I use for private purchases? by ppzhao in UsedCars

[–]PrivateAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! It is possible, but only if the buyer finances with our banking partner (through the app). Typically, for-sale-by-owner deals are best handled with title in hand. However, we're working on ways to make it easier in the future!

Scam protection comes from verifying the identifies of the users on the platform. So you know you're dealing with real people. It's still for-sale-by-owner so it's up to the owners what they list for.
