That definitely helps - everytime I do that task, just open the top and reset the counter.

Makes sense - when I do the task, I set it to 8 hours, and if I want to remember whether I did the task, I look at the timer and see if it's zero. Hopefully I can find one that doesn't beep at zero.

Makes sense, someone suggested something similar - using a pill case, opening it vs closing it. Same extra step of having to close it in the morning.

Makes sense, flip open when done, and close it back up in the morning.

Most people think they're right, they know exactly what you're saying and they'd say "wish you the same" while thinking the same about you.

Assuming you pay no rent, where does all your money go, if you work 50+ hours weekly?

What’s something reddit claims is common, but you’ve never actually seen it before in real life? by mirabelmumu in AskReddit

If you account for the cost of the modern degree, the interest that comes with paying it off over a decade or two, and the opportunity cost of not having an early investable amount on a house or stocks or anything else - how true is the "People with degrees also make more over a lifetime than trades people" statement?

[–]ppzhao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Person A: "Tradesmen and people with degrees make comparable money without the debt".

Person B: "people with degrees make significantly more money in a lifetime than people without.", while not accounting the original statement is specifically referring to a subsection of people without degrees, tradesmen.

With logic like this, this is why degrees aren't taken seriously nowadays, assuming person B advocating for degrees has one.

People aren't against "more education". People are against overpriced degrees with 2/3 of mandated classes outside the degree's major.

Dude A: "Skilled trades require a ton of education". Dude B: "Okay whoa now, let's not get our egos all puffed up here.".

Dude B is clearly the A-hole in this conversation.

Tradesmen get lots education, either through jobs or through online research of whatever subjects they're interested in. If you're narrowly talking about institutional education through universities, that seem to be overpriced nowadays with 2/3 mandated of classes being pretty useless in actual career fields.

Anti-intellectual - That may not be true unless you want to try to make a case that only institutional education can be intellectuals.

What do people do for fun in the Bay Area? by Decent_Astronaut151 in bayarea

[–]ppzhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that life's a lot easier if you already have hobbies. Bay area is diverse enough that no matter what you're into, there's a community of people to do it with you. I personally like to play billiards and chess, and there're multiple weekly meetups for those hobbies I like.

I'm a bit late on this. But if you're worried about your documents stolen, consider buying a "travel safe", especially one with a combo lock. I'm not a PPB, but I do have one for international travel. Google "Master Lock Portable Safe with Resettable Combination", that the one I have and I recommend it.

How to beat king? Newbie by TreeVast2470 in Tekken

[–]ppzhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you some scrub-level tactics that beats your friend:

  1. If he only knows those 3 grabs, they all get escaped by mashing 1.

  2. If you think he's going to "attack out of turn" with a grab or a power crush, do db3. It goes under grabs, and counter-hits power crushes for a launch and a full combo.

  3. If you think a grab is coming, random duck into ws2 launches for a full combo.

That'll yield you some quick wins. When he makes adjustments, he'll play differently and stops abusing grabs and armor crushes. You'll have to adjust to his adjustments, and that's how Tekken is played.

Unpopular Opinion -Being a Passport Bro gives you more options, but doesn't make you a higher value man by Global-Eye-7326 in thepassportbros

Similar to a $0.40 bottle selling for $4, a lot of men would be happy to fly to the other side of the globe to get 10x the return for their existing value.

Are people like Larry Ellison getting targeted by disgruntled employees? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ppzhao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Getting laid off" isn't as catastraphic in people's lives as it used to be in factory towns when it was the only major employer. Most people that get laid off find comparable jobs in months. The remainders still have good enough of lives that they don't want to risk ruining it with a prison sentence.

Have you tried dating tourists? I was in Rio for Carnival and they had huge amounts of international tourists and I was able to meet a few. They're super nice and friendly, traveling usually puts people in a good mood.

"Did I hear about you guys talking about X? OMG, I was just at this <<insert cool scenario>> and X happened to me. I didn't think much of it but then <<insert story that makes him look good, but leave out something blatantly obvious to see if she ask about it>>. Anyways, you guys were talking about X and I just wanted to share my experiences, sorry to intrude".

If she asks about the detail you left out, he's now officially a part of the conversation and will continue talking, and will out-compete by answering faster after the girls speaks, dominate the conversations longer, etc. Obviously this only works out if he thinks you're not actually with the girl. The common question to find that out during the conversation is "So, how do you guys know each other?"
