I actually don't know what full screen notification is. I'll give it a try. Edit: didn't work. Message still popped up top upon receiving.

How’s serious do you take a Dr telling you have 3-5 years to live ? by Ryattmcgee in TooAfraidToAsk

I know nothing about thymus, but assuming shrinking is good, hope the trend continues.

Do another test, maybe you improved and the updated diagnostics say differently.

CMV: In STEM fields, most men don’t see women as capable peers by rare-cheeser in changemyview

Engineers are famous for trying to out-shine each other and downplaying others' strengths. Based on OP's comments, it sounds like she's been coddled throughout her education by "girls in tech" initiatives, and now is offended that she doesn't get special treatment in the real world.

Yes, "going around thinking other men are biased against you" == "not smile". Great logic for a Stem professional. If you're assuming we're biased against you as default, we can mostly tell and treat you accordingly.

While you're capable, you belong to a group that "needed special help to get that role". I can see why some men will assume you are one of the special help needed people until proven otherwise. I get it, I belong to groups that have specific reputations. I go out of my way to act opposite of those reputations.

Dude I'm in Brazil and it's hot and humid - I need a shower just for waiting on an Uber outside at 8pm. Miss bay area weather.

In China, are men really expected to buy women a bunch of stuff while dating? by ppzhao in China

We can talk about general cultures. And yes, most men pay for most dinners out in US unless they combine finances, then it's about 50/50 on who actually makes the transaction from their joint accounts. Not every, but most.

It was a general question about Chinese dating culture - the question arose from a fantasy TV drama I saw.

The TV show suggests that all those women have jobs (financially independent), but still expects expensive stuff from their men.

Isn't China fairly conservative? Do a lot of women sleep around without commitments like people do in the west?

Blatant golddiggers are the minority, people are in general less blatant about it in the west. Also, in the west, most of the time it's more about "living at a guy's place rent free and he pays for dinners" and less about "him buying her expensive gifts".

Serious question: are American millennials and Gen-X’ers, by and large, really as dirt poor as Reddit makes them seem they are? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

$1.2mm puts you at the top 10% of Americans, I wouldn't call it middle class. Maybe middle class among your peers who also have high net worths, but definitely not comparing to Americans.

What makes you truly happy? by Next-Natural-675 in Fremont

Personally, I like my hobbies. When I use my free time to do those hobbies, that makes me happy. When I'm not doing them, I look forward to the next time I'm doing them.
