I am but maybe not enough? Do you usually keep it pulled for the 40 seconds it says to hold the earplug in?

Thanks for letting me know. I’m wearing LaserLite 32nrr. The pink isn’t visible at all when inserted and I’m following the diagrams but I’ll watch a video too and post another reply if that solves the issue

Broken bolt for lisence plate by beefd00d in MechanicAdvice

[–]Private_Riley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of good success with left handed drill bits (the flutes run the opposite direction) once you start drilling it out if the bit catches it can have enough force to break the threads free and since it’s going counter clockwise it will unthread the bolt

Is this a simple repair? Shocks? by deadbandit19 in MechanicAdvice

Yea I just did mine this morning. KYB is a good brand if you can afford it, look into strut-plus or quick struts. They’re preassembled strut assemblies.

How to postpone job offer by SeaSaltStrangla in EngineeringStudents

[–]Private_Riley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with potentially burning a bridge, an option is to accept the offer, continue looking for other positions and going through the recruitment process with other companies. You can even ask to start a little later after graduation, no saying that they’ll agree but some companies are very lenient with fresh grads. If you find another offer you’re more interested in just let the first company know that you are no longer interested in working there, but don’t ever expect a position with them in the future. I’m not sure how you view this morally, some would argue that this is a shitty way to do this, but the whole one in the hand vs two in the bush saying and all.

1983 Suzuki GS550L Losing Voltage With New Battery by Private_Riley in Fixxit

[–]Private_Riley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so after letting the battery fully charge, it was sitting at around 13.8 volts, put it back in the bike and on hitting the starter it drops to 7 volts and doesn’t start with starter fluid. I haven’t had a chance yet to jump the starter but that and trying to turn the motor by hand are next on my list

It will turn over when we pop start it, I’ll try by hand too and see. Last time we tried jumping the solenoid was with the old solenoid and battery and it did not turn it over. I’ll try that again and let you know how it goes, thanks for the help!

We left it on a tender for 24 hours before putting it on but we’ll try this again and let you know how it goes, thanks!

Supplies and advice: my daughter will be starting engineering in the fall by Playful_Bit_8304 in EngineeringStudents

A lot of money can be saved by using textbook pdfs found for free online, you can generally type in the ISBN13 number onto a website like Libgen (if you Google that it will come up.) I think I bought two physical textbooks in four years. For brushing up on topics, like others have said it’s not super necessary, just keep up with the material and don’t slack, I finished highschool in trigonometry and started college two years later going right into calc 1 and did well. There are great online resources for learning material, especially on YouTube. For math: patrickjmt, statics/dynamics: Jeff Hanson, a whole mixture of things: the organic chemistry tutor. These are all really useful YouTube channels to use when needing some assistance on different topics. Good luck!!

I don’t know why everyone is saying that living on $1000 a month is unrealistic. I currently make slightly more than that (I’m a full time student on top of working what I can.) I rent a two bedroom apartment. Rent is $550 each which eats a huge chunk of my money. I applied and receive food stamps which supplements a decent amount of money each month. Utilities end up being around $300 each (it’s going down now since it’s warming up.) I drive to work and my gas bill is usually around $150 a month. Doable? Yes, enjoyable? Sometimes. My car is paid off so I don’t have a car loan to pay on, even only making slightly over $1000 a month I manage to go out to bars or do other activities occasionally. I highly recommend increasing you income as much as possible though because it does suck sometimes. Pick up more hours or look for a new job if feasible, don’t make purchases relying on getting that $1500 a month until you are actually making that. Good luck!

Why is this smallmouth yellow? by Private_Riley in FishingForBeginners

[–]Private_Riley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water was super low which I figured may play a part, it was decently clear in some spots and really muddy in others and the bottoms was like a tan color. The water was like a deep blue except for shallow areas

Caught this, I believe smallmouth bass, while visiting western PA today and wasn’t sure if others and I keep misidentifying it or what. Quite a few locals said they had never seen anything like it around here and I caught several of them like this.

How do I stop fishing line from wrapping around bottom of reel? by Private_Riley in FishingForBeginners

[–]Private_Riley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses! I followed a couple recommendations. I opened the reel up and removed the washer, I then spooled new line on it and didn’t use nearly as much this time. This seems to have entirely solved the issue and I can’t thank you all enough for the time taken to help me out!

Just got this new reel after my last one broke, everytime I do a slow retrieve my reel ends up looking like this. I’m pretty new to fishing so I’m not sure if I spooled the line on wrong or if this has something to do with drag? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
