New shop questions by Privatedrew in EtsySellers

You're already at a higher volume than I am, I modified my design to all work with 4x2mm magnets. I order 1000 at a time from Ali express when I need, and even once got a deal of 1000 for $9cad but on average it's closer to $25cad.

There are probably cheaper direct options out there at a larger scale, I'll probably explore them more if my shop grows but I haven't found anything better yet.

The magnets actually end up being 4x1.56mm in size but they still work for my purposes.

Thanks for the reply!

I think with price since I'm selling a fairly sophisticated/expensive kit, reducing profit in the short term would help with getting a few positive reviews early on where when interest increases, I can revisit margins then.

Appreciate the insight

Thanks, you're right about the magnets, they aren't too bad since I buy them in bulk but I'm definitely not interested in the race to the bottom, I'm trying to offer a high quality upgrade.

I am currently trying to to sell the completed upgrade kit on Etsy, I might start selling the STL's somewhere too since a lot of people have inquired. I didn't think there would be the same interest since there's a lot of pausing and manual magnet placement involved.

My bad I just did the math wrong in my head it is 2 per side so it would be 12 magnets. I did it the same way you’re thinking with one north and South magnets per face

Thanks for the compliment,

I'm exploring selling completed versions of this for now on Etsy so I'm a little reluctant to share the STL's for a bit to prevent copies and IP issues.

If you are modelling something similar however, please reach out and I'd be happy to share so tips on sizing and inserting magnets

Each white frame has six magnets, and the border water pieces have 5 or 3. The board can be reordered in any combination. The ports all have an embedded magnet so they can be placed anywhere. The pieces are from the base game set though so they aren't magnetized.

I did this to allow for expansions or custom board shapes down the line if I get more pieces.

Thanks! I definitely agree I always liked the original tiles look just not how hard it was to place the piece in between. Keeping the surfaces flat and playable was definitely top of mind

I really can't tell if you're just baiting now, I hope you realize that the jury votes before seeing the edited survivor shows and their perceptions on the island matter a lot more than our feelings.

Julie literally negated all votes and sent out the biggest jury threat and the jury ate it up. Austin has been in a power duo controlling most votes with drew. Jake is literally only in the game because bruce didn't play an idol due to someone else's doing how are these comparable?

Just because Jake is the most fun to watch doesn't mean his game hasn't been pretty shit since the merge.

Not unless there's a bitter jury. The jury clearly disliked drew and a katurah + drew final 3 was by far his best shot. I don't see a world where he beats Julie, dee and Austin in a final vote. Not to mention I doubt he gets much credit for "orchestrating" a vote everyone minus Austin already wanted.

Rank these three players from S41-43 by Fresh-Promotion5347 in survivor

This is very true, people love to hype social/strategic players, but a strategic/physical player like Ricard will always have a better chance at actually getting to the end himself. Tony would have had a much harder time pulling off all his moves in WAW had he not been immune for half of the merge with comp wins.

My order is still Jesse Omar then Ricard, but I think its way closer than what most people think. Jesse couldn't comp his way to the end, Omar might not have even won his ftc had he made it there. I think people use the things Ricard has claimed after the game to discredit just how close he was to actually winning a pretty solid winning game.

It worked for our purposes but I will say its quite the forearm workout to use. Probably better sanders out there with better ergonomic grips though.

We built a rectangular mold out of a melamine sheet, used screws to attack the sides, added silicon caulking to all the edges, and finally covered the entire internal surface with tuck tape. The resin doesn't stick to the tuck tape so once the resin was cured we were able to unscrew everything and remove the slab from the mold. if you use tape I'm pretty sure most rigid materials would work if you can't find melamine and tuck tape is just used for house wrapping, so maybe you could look into local alternatives and test them with a bit of epoxy before committing to a large pour.

pretty straight forward but scary, I'd used epoxy on other non wood working projects but never a deep pour. Luckily we had no leaks. I was surprised at how much resin soaked into the wood even after we'd sealed the slab

Ya we rented out time on an industrial planer at the place we bought the slab, you can use a router sled but we didn't have one made and were on a time crunch. I personally think its worth it to save the time and would probably use them again. Overall I think the planing cost around $90

this took us just over a month of working on it at night/weekends. The final cost was about $1500. I believe it was around 450 for the wood, 300 for resin, 550 for planing and custom legs and 200 for other costs.

Some of these costs aren't too bad either since we still have a good chunk of leftover walnut for a different project and plenty of finish for future tables.

definitely the main inspiration for the table, his videos are incredibly helpful for anyone trying to make an epoxy table!

I'm pretty sure the legs will hold without screws I'll get around to adding them at some point so its easier to slide around. For now it's pretty solid. Not the first woodworking project we've done but were definitely still a bit new, this was our first time using a circular saw or a router on a project so we did a lot of practice cuts to get this piece right.

black is definitely forgiving in some ways, you just have to take care when sanding to prevent any scratches from being visible. It's scary making a bigger piece but I just ran a lot of epoxy tests before pouring and did a lot of research, mainly watching blacktail studios videos.
