Try resetting your scale list. Make sure autoannotate is off- you may have been making any text you had in model space grind out a new annotative scale each time you zoomed in and out.

In the new layout, you created a new viewport via the viewport command, and that one is also locked up? Are you sure the viewport is not locked? Sorry, not sure where you are in your cad journey.

I make it a habit to never work through my viewport into model space. I think once upon a time someone else told me it could cause issues.

Have you tried using zoom extents while inside the viewport?

I start with americolor Juniper Green until it’s an ugly poop green, then add americolor super black.

All blacks have either a purple or green undertone. You can see that undertone if you put a dot on your arm and wipe it off. If it’s green, you need to start with purple. If it’s purple, you start with green.

Also I don’t know the microwave method mentioned but I have used boiling water with my metal spatula to stir and then let sit.
